Cheddar Cheese Nippers

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2011
No matter how I tried to resist the pull to use a substitution, I simply could not wait another day to make these with a pack of gruyere I had in the fridge. The recipe sounds so easy and delicious, and so it is! The making was mess-free, I used the smallest cookie cutter I had, and transferred the crackers to the parchment with a butter knife to avoid breaking them. They turned out beautifully crispy and golden (the ones rolled thinnest were the best), and the backgound wiff of cayenne pepper complimented ever so delicately to the aroma and taste. Mmmm... Will make again. And again.

Rosemary Rabbit

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2011
I've made it several times now, and it's a good recipe, classic and simple. Works with fresh or dried herbs. The only thing I adjusted was the time and temperature: I used a different baking dish. I left it to bake for 1-1/4 hour, covered for the last 30 minutes.

Easy Orange Duck

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2011
A rare combination of easy, exciting and actually wholesome, a great way to impress any guests. Adding garlic and onion to orange seemed a bit weird at the start, but the tastes blended together marvelously. The orange and onion rings are a perfect side dish in themselves, I just added some fresh herbs for serving. Will do again!

Rabbit Italian Style

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2012
This is very, very good. So simple and so elegant, the tastes complement each other perfectly. I used half the fat and a whole bottle of sherry. Will definitely make this again, a great holiday treat. Thank you for sharing.

Baked and Poached Tilapia

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2011
I liked the combination of flavours - not boring, not overpowering. Like other reviewers, I topped the fillets with tomato slices. I will surely make these again, they're easy, tasty and healthy.

Zesty Carrots

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2011
I found it delicious, and the whole family loved it. Next time I'll double the spread (may be I used too large carrots). I don't like mayo, my husband doesn't like sour cream, so I subbed the mayo with egg yolks, and it worked fine, very tender.

Orange and Onion Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2011
I added black grapes for the colour instead of black olives (a matter of personal preference), and it looked very appetising and cheerful. The taste is tangy and intriguing.

Corn-Stuffed Tomatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2011
I made the recipe as it is, and in the end was glad that I didn't add any herbs or spice: the gentle taste is quite balanced to my opinion, corn and butter go very well together, and the tomato 'counterpoint' is more than enough. It makes a great side dish that is colourful, but won't steal the limelight from the main course.

Cantaloupe Dressing

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2012
The cantaloupe has to be very-very ripe in this, or else the dressing comes out 'grainy' and messes up the salad. The taste combination is nice. I omitted the sugar.

Sleepy Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2012
For a recipe as effortless as that, this is an absolute hit. A very moist and flavourful cake, that relies on the taste, not on the presentation. Family loved it, said it was not too chocolatey. I reduced the sugar topping to 1/3 the first time I made it, and halved the second time. The 1/3 version was just sweet enough for me. Will make again and again.

Apple Cake II

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2011
It did flatten down after cooling, but it might be my fault - I made my own flour + baking soda + baking powder mixture instead of the self-raising flour. I liked the taste though, very moist and fruity. I think I might try this as muffins. I really like the idea.

Pineapple Orange Sorbet

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2011
Easy-tropical-breezy! The canned pineapple is a real time-saver and a great base, and in my case sweet enough to cut the sugar in half next time. Used half the orange juice, no zest, and lime instead of lemon. Thanks a lot for the idea.

Baked Dijon Salmon

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2011
I would definitely make this again, only cut down on the sweetness a bit. So much honey is good when using some extra zesty mustard, otherwise to my taste the sweetness was a little too overwhelming, mb because of the ingredients I used. The crust was delicious.

Rosemary Citrus Sorbet

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2011
This was delicious. The flavours go excellently together, and you can adjust the sweetness depending on how you're planning to serve it, for dessert or before the main course. I detest grapefruit, but in this combination - well, I just couldn't get enough of it! Very "wintery", too.
