Well I have decided to talk about what happens when you become a supporting member here a little extra thing allrecipes choses not to tell you in advance. They use auto renewal so if your not careful you might get a surprise on your creditcard.
Every other site in the world  lets you update your credit card information or remove it why can't all recipes.com do that for us?  I have talked with them and they say at this time that is not an option had I known that in advance I would never give my card number to be held hostage.

Something's rotten at all recipes and this is one lady who will not be renewing.

Amazing thing to see how others assume I did not know how to turn off auto renewal I'm really laughing at those absured comments:)

Again wow must be quite a few very assuming posters pleased to know you all know how to use the site as do I but please don't stalk my profile that is just creepy and silly.

AR sent me an email a month before my auto renew came up to remind me. Boy was I glad they did! The card number they had was a closed account. However, could not find where to put in a new credit card number. I called and they walked me through what to do. At the end of the call I said something like well, this is would be better if there was the option to change the card number on that page. She said they were working on a change to make it better. I found her very pleasant and helpful, as I do most of the members I "talk" to here.

Thank you for sharring your experience Lucky Noodles. I too was sent an email after inquiring about trying to have my credit card number removed from the allrecipes site. I too was told the same information as you that they are "working" on having that option for customers. Unfortunately they did not adress the "real" issue my request for them to remove my card credit card information but addressed auto renewal which I had already opted out of once I became a supporting member. Keeping my card number without giving me the customer the option to remove it is NOT a benefit to a customer and it is unexceptable to hold my creditcard hostage.

I dislike that too. It seems more & more companies are doing that. Don't ever sign up for anything XBox related! We've had to go through He double toothpicks to get them to stop billing me monthly for something my son signed up for several years ago. You can't even cancel your credit card & get a new number - they will follow you to the new number!!

Yes I agree with you Scotdog Xbox has horrible reviews in relation to auto renewal, I read some horror stories in regards to what you described sorry you had to go through that.

an option when using the internet is to use a pre-paid visa or mastercard. purchase one for whatever dollar amount and use it for online purchases. the residual/odd amount of money can be used at a restuarant or cashed in at a bank. using a pre-paid credit card can ensure that nothing renews because the card will be dead. yes, it cost to buy them but the extra dollars is worth not having a headache that is impossible to correct later. just an idea.

About Me
I grew up in Canoga Park California. I love to cook and I view food as a way to explore different cultures and a way for me a way to express myself artistically.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are tamales, beens and rice. My favorite desserts to make are my own Rubarb cobbler recipe and my own sugar cookie recipe. I have to have a few secrets to pass on to my kids:)
My favorite family cooking traditions
making tamales, decorating cakes and sugar cookies to share as gifts and making a family cookbook of original recipes.
My cooking triumphs
Cooking everday is a triumph..
My cooking tragedies
Roasting my very first turkey. At a formal family dinner party I pulled out the guts bag from my beautiful turkey I was mortified to find it and never made that mistake again.
