Jalapeno Popper Wontons

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2011
Big hit at family christmas. I sprayed these with cooking spray and then baked instead of frying and they turned out great. The thai sweet chili sauce for dipping makes these even better! Will be making these again.

Ice Cream Scones

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2011
Not good. I made my own self rising flour as suggested by other reviewers and even though I used less salt than advised these were quite salty. Flavor of the ice cream did not really come through either. I added chocolate chips and that still did not help. Will not make again, but love the idea.

Fresh Strawberry Upside Down Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2011
Very good cake! I made homemade whipped cream to go with it, but I think it tasted good even without it. I used 2 pounds of strawberries, smashed well. Followed the directions exactly. 45 min of bake time in my oven.

Passion Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2011
A little too messy and "oaty" for little hands but the flavor is good. Unlike other reviewers, I think I would have preferred more chocolate chips ( I only used 1 cup)

Banana Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2010
Yummy! Followed the recipe exactly except added full 15 oz can of pumpkin (about the same) and about 1 c of chocolate chips instead of raisins/walnuts. Baked in mini muffin tins for 18 to 20 minutes. Great recipe! Who knew banana and pumpkin went together so well!

Grilled Fish Tacos with Chipotle-Lime Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2010
Sorry since everyone else seemed to love this but the marinade was incredibly bland!!! I marinated my tilapia for 24 hours and the fish had no flavor! Also, as per other reviewers the sauce is very hot...

Spiced Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2010
Pretty good. I haven't made pumpkin seeds before, and this was relatively easy. I changed the spices based on other reviews. I had a little less than 2 cups of seeds and added 1/2 tsp salt, 1/8 tsp garlic salt, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 3 Tbsp butter and 2 tsp of worcestershire. I stirred every 15 minutes as recommended by other reviewers. I cooked on a foil lined baking sheet for easy clean up. Mine only took about 50 minutes at 300 to get golden brown.

Blueberry Lemon Loaf

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2010
Not really a fair review because I changed the recipe and used a brown sugar crumble on top instead of the lemon juice/confectioners' sugar topping. Overall I didn't care for the texture and the flavor was only OK.

Chocolate Zucchini Bread I

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2010
Thank you for the advice from previous reviewers. Following suggestions I subbed applesauce for half the oil, also 3T cocoa and 1 T butter per square of unsweetened chocolate. I also coated the chocolate chips with the dry ingredients before stirring in and they stayed evenly throughout the loaf.

Zucchini Bread VII

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2010
Excellent recipe. Like other reviewers recommended I subbed applesauce for half the oil and I also added 1 tsp of cinnamon. No walnuts due to personal preferences. Freezes great. Thanks for the recipe!

Flank Steak with Horseradish Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2009
If I was rating just the meat I would give it 5 stars. Great flavor! I thought the horseradish sauce left a lot to be desired though. I have made this again with just them meat.

Fantastic! Made this with cranberry pomegranate juice. It lasted about 2 hours. Great with Fresca.

Chocolate Pretzels

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2009
Made these twice over the Christmas season. Big hit. Made them with both Kisses and Hugs (I think the Hugs taste better) but the Hugs melt quicker than the kisses. Used regular sized M&Ms and waffle pretzels.

Roast Beef Horseradish Roll-Ups

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2008
Not an entirely fair review because I didn't have dijon mustard at hand and had to use yellow. That being said, the flavors were still pretty mild, I was hoping for more of a kick. Might make again with some adjustments in the amounts of ingredients.

Made these for Christmas. Great blend of seasonings in the cream cheese. Did add some slivered carrots for crunch. Will make again.

Tuscan Cream Cheese Spread

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2007
I made several modifications to the recipe...no black olives (personal taste), less parsley (dried), lots o garlic, and no chives (didn't have them). I used the spread to make tortilla roll-ups as suggested by a previous reviewer. I then took the left over spread, added a little milk and softened it in the microwave and used it as a dip with blue corn chips. The chip dip version was a HUGE hit with the party goers.

World's Best Cream Cheese and Pineapple Dip

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2006
Made this for my family for father's day and it received several compliments. I agree with previous reviewers that you must wait overnight for the flavors to meld. I served with bagel chips as suggested.

Spinach Tomato Tortellini

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2006
Good flavorful pasta dish. I only used 9 oz of spinach/cheese tortellini. I also added more fresh garlic and more spinach. Quick and easy. SECOND REVIEW: Used 18 oz of tortellini, still added extra garlic and spinach but added red pepper flakes which I will continue to do in the future

Aunt Cora's World's Greatest Cookies

Reviewed: May 31, 2006
These should be known as Aunt Cora's World's Most Beautiful Cookies! They came out looking like they belonged in a magazine! I used butter instead of margarine and an extra dollop of peanut butter, otherwise followed exactly. I had no problems with spreading of the cookies, they retained their shape beautifully. I couldn't keep my husband out of the dough as I was trying to make these! Great tasting both the right after baking and the days after. Thanks for a great cookie!!

Artichoke Spinach Lasagna

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2006
This was a hit! I made the following changes: I left out the onion due to taste preferences of one of my dinner guests. I also used approximately half of the can of vegetable broth. I added basil/grlic flavored tomato paste to the sauce and simmered for approx 15-20 minutes. I pre-cooked the noodles and did not have any problems with them. I also added parmesan to the layers of mozzarella. My dinner guests raved and in fact one of them who is a professed non-veggie eater went home with the recipe and leftovers! Thanks for a great recipe!
