Beef Barley Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2003
I followed the recipe exactly - but in my case it was necesary to add another 8 cups water/ 8 cubes beef bouillon just to get it to a "thick soup state" I had an army to feed and it did the trick. Absolutely delicious!

Banana Smoothie I

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2008
Yummy! Am easy way to get fruit and protein into the kids in the morning. I did use a little ice and I used brown sugar, but it probably doesn't change the taste that much.

Italian Confetti Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2004
I thought the salad was great. I cooked one extra cup of pasta so that it wasn't too goopy and added just a bit more vinegar. Adults loved it kids didn't.

Bottom Round Roast with Onion Gravy

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2011
I gave this a 5 because the flavors were great. I don't love bottom round, but it is what I had. I used cabernet instead of burgandy. I did use the vinegar but don't think it was necesary with the wine. I ended up needing about 3 tbsp. of flour to thicken up the gravy. Also, the bullion cube adds terrific flavor - if using beef stock I would use a cup of stock in place of water. Thanks for the yummy recipe!

Refried Beans Without the Refry

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2011
I mad this as directed but with only 4 tsp. of salt. They were great right then and even better the next day. When I put them away I mixed in even more of the reserved liquid which I think not only kept them from being to dry but also added to their flavor. I can't wait to try this with black beans!

Easy Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2009
This was the easiest, BEST gravy that I have ever made. My turkey made alot of drippings, so I just used them all and topped off with chicken stock. My daughter keeps asking if she can eat just the gravy. She has already had 3 servings of rolls and gravy today :)

Easy Apple Cinnamon Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2004
These muffins were great. I used buttermilk instead for milk. Also, I used brown sugar in the topping - I made mini muffins - baked at 375 for 15 minutes. Yum.

Super Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2010
Delicious! My family likes a larger gravy to sausage ratio, so one pound of sausage made double the sausage gravy. I added a little oil when browning the sausage and doubled the flour and milk. Thanks for the recipe!

Chicken Cheese Chowder

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2010
Everyone loved this soup! I made it exactly as written. I was worried that the cheese would overpower the rest, but it was lovely. Thanks for the great recipe!

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2009
This was easy and good. I did only use about a cup and a half of broth as other reviewers had suggested. We don't do mushrooms so I added extra onion and celery. I stirred right before serving and loved the crusty edges getting mixed in. It was as if the top had browned in the oven. Plenty of non-stick spray around the bowl before cooking made clean up easy.

Perfect Turkey

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2009
Delicious and Beautiful! I got so many compliments on the moist turkey! I followed the Cooks Illustraded recommendation that another reviewer suggested - to let the turkey sit uncovered in the fridge for several hours after rinsing and drying off the brine. This turkey put off so much delicous pan drippings that the gravy was terrific. I made the Easy Turkey Gravy from this site. Awesome.

Chicken and Egg Hash

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2010
Very good, adaptable recipe. I used already cooked chicken that I added at the end. I sauteed carrots and fresh corn(because I had it) with the onion and garlic and skipped the frozen veggies. There are 7 of us, so I cooked the eggs separately in the oven, shirred. The whole group asked that I make it again. Thanks for the great recipe!

I gave this recipe 5 stars because my entire family ate it - all six of us. It took a little longer to set in the middle. Nothing very exciting about it - but definately won me over!

Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili

Easy recipe. I added a can of diced tomatoes and used about half the broth. I also used colby-jack cheese on the side instead of added in. It wasn't totaly white anymore but it sure was good!

Best Breakfast Cookie

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
Very Yummy. I used 1/2 whole wheat flour 1/2 all purpose. Like others, I did not have the pureed prunes. I substitued pureed peaches (baby food) with great success. Next time I'll add more nuts! So many people asked me for this recipe.
