The filling was way too bland as written (still bland even after I added some italian seasoning, used italian sausage and ground beef, and added salt and pepper). It was an ok dish, but I expected it to better based on the reviews. I had some filling leftover and made stuffed shells the next day but added things to the filling. If I were to make this again I would put more garlic, salt, pepper, and parmesan or mozzarella cheese in the filling. Parmesan really pepped up the filling the next day. I would also use more red sauce because I found it to be too dry. I'm not sure why people say the white sauce makes the dish because I also found that to be pretty bland as well. I think it would be better with an alfredo sauce. Overall, nice basic recipe.
