I'm here to learn more about cooking, I never really had to as I was growing up but now that I have a family of my own it's definitely time! I've been married for little over three years and while I can make many neccessities, my goal here is to learn how to make homecooking that my family and everyone else can rant and rave about. Very recently I have become more excited to learn about cooking and sharing recipes. It's really become a passion for me and I love to see my family's reaction to GOOD food! I think I've found a hobby in this and it's very exciting for me :)
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking pastas right now and I keep that very general because I'll try any kind of pasta.. love it! I love to cook with seafood, preferrably shrimp (because it's fast and easy). I love to add a cajun twist to recipes when called for also.
My favorite family cooking traditions
None, cooking was never brought to me as I was growing up. It wasn't a requirement from my mom so I'm making family traditions as I go. I will, however, make sure that my daughters (to come) get involved with cooking so that we can have long traditional lines of recipes ;)
My cooking triumphs
Anything seafood is always a winner for me. But I must say my best cooking experience was my first Thanksgiving dinner I made for my husband. It was our first year of marriage and I had been cooking on the same scale on a weekly basis, not challenging myself to get better. Our first Thanksgiving was an excitement for me because I cooked a full course dinner (minus an actual turkey) and it turned out WAY better than I'd expected. I made cornish hens, dressing, greens, and banana pudding... definitely not a traditional Thanksgiving, but it worked well for a starter meal and I'm proud.
My cooking tragedies
Well, I've had many of these on a weekly basis while learning to cook but so far no major fails like a Sunday dinner or Holiday meal gone wrong. As one comes I'll definitely update you!
