I'm a widower and love to try new recipes and share some of my old Kentucky favorites. From Juleps to Henry Bain's steak sauce, I know it (all except KFC recipe.
My favorite things to cook
Beef, Pork and seafood. I don't care for the cheapies like flank steak, etc., if I'm going to cook beef stew in my small slow cooker, I'll use sirloin or better.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Ky Derby brunch and Southern cooking. Eastern NC bbq and sides. Good oyster recipes.
My cooking triumphs
Senegalese soup/stew. My mom's French dressing recipe plus the ideal salad for it. How to make a Julep or the perfect Old Fashioned.
My cooking tragedies
No disasters. If I feel it's beyond my talents I won't risk messing up the main ingredient to attempt some bizarre dish. I'll cook fettucine alfredo and add crabmeat to the sauce (Newman's) I'm simple and it's great.
