My motto: Opportunity Does Not Wait for Convenience – you have to say “yes” to some things, even if you are busy or it is easier to say no.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking, naturally. My grandmother was an avid baker (she made dessert every day of the week) and I took a good lesson from the satisfaction she took in making others happy.
My cooking triumphs
Graduating cooking school, making my first Croquembouche.
My cooking tragedies
As a pastry apprentice in a new kitchen, I once made 4 full pans of pecan sponge cake using salt in place of the sugar. I was so embarrassed to have made such a basic mistake (I didn’t even think to check - I assumed the sugar was next to the flour, like in my own kitchen). Now I always taste to make sure I know which is salt and sugar, even if labeled!
