Fresh Strawberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2012
Paired this beautifully balanced sauce with vanilla cheesecake. Thank you for the recipe! This is definitely my go-to for strawberry sauce from now on. The balsamic vinegar added a lovely flavor.

Donna's Famous Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2012
I love this cheesecake because it's very rich, but not too sweet. I added some sugar to the graham cracker crust mixture, and found that using margarine instead of butter definitely creates a more malleable substance when pressing it into the pan. I would suggest using more margarine as needed, though. Thank you for the recipe!

Dark German Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2012
This recipe creates a very moist and fluffy cake, but would definitely benefit from replacing the hot water with coffee instead. While tasty on its own, the cake does come out rather flat. It didn't sink, but it didn't exactly rise the way I expected it to, either.

Barb's Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2012
This is exactly what I look for in a chocolate cake -decadent, moist, and delicious. Coffee in replace of water usually adds more depth to any chocolate cake, but this recipe on its own came out wonderful. Paired with chocolate butter cream frosting, this certainly satisfied my chocolate craving for the evening.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2012
While delicious, this recipe produces a rather sweet cookie that seems to be missing a nice balance. So I made it again with a few alterations. I used salted butter instead of unsalted, used two whole eggs rather than one and an egg yolk, used 3/4 a teaspoon of salt, and used a full teaspoon of baking soda. These changes really balanced the sweetness, leaving an over all tastier cookie. I tried adding a tad more salt to the regular recipe instead of replacing the butter, but that really didn't change anything. Reducing the sugar during another attempt did little for the taste as well. So definitely give the salted butter a try if you feel like the cookie is too sweet.

Pumpkin Ginger Cupcakes

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2012
This recipe will not let you down! Don't even debate making these -just do it. It is perfect as is. If you don't have the crystallized ginger, it still comes out beautifully. As listed, the recipe makes exactly 24 cupcakes, and my household devoured all of them in less than two days.

Chicken Noodle Casserole I

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2012
Definitely a recipe that needs to be tweaked to fully enjoy. And if you regard this as a base recipe, it can actually lead to a pretty satisfying dish. I know some people really enjoyed it as-is, but this is your opportunity to experiment with different seasonings. I added garlic and onion powder, some garlic salt, mushrooms, broccoli, and even a packet of ranch dressing mix to the soup and sour cream mixture. I used less of the cream of chicken soup, though -it seemed to take away from the rest of the flavor. I cooked the noodles and broccoli in chicken broth, but made sure to bake (not boil) the chicken in a poultry seasoning. But on a side note, DO NOT skimp on the Ritz topping. Double (even triple) it if you can. I will definitely be making this again, but with a greater assortment of vegetables.

Chocolate Cupcakes

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2012
This is a perfect and simple recipe. The cupcakes rose properly and were moist and delicious. I didn't have any eggs, and the only substitute I had readily available was 1/4 cup water for each egg, which I replaced with coffee instead (I usually bake chocolate cakes with coffee anyway). The cupcakes turned out beautifully.

Lasagna Alfredo

Reviewed: May 17, 2012
This was an excellent base recipe. I had to cut the ricotta cheese amount in half because I felt like it was way too much. I added slices of baby bella mushrooms and sprinkled garlic salt over a few layers. I also put some Alfredo sauce (I used Classico's new "roasted poblano" sauce, which gave the dish a nice kick) on top of the last layer of lasagna noodles before adding the cheese. It is now boyfriend and roommate approved; they could not express enough how much they enjoyed this. Next time I think I'll use less chicken or maybe replace it with some Italian sausage.

Overnight Blueberry French Toast

Reviewed: May 17, 2012
I feel like this recipe has a lot of potential, and with a little tweaking, it could be really wonderful. Maybe if I followed some suggestions left by other reviewers the dish would have been more flavorful. But instead, I followed the directions and measurements exactly and ended up with something I'm not really sure my family will finish eating. I think I'll give this recipe another go and create a mixture of cream cheese and powdered sugar to spread in the center. The best part of this recipe was the blueberry sauce -it was something everyone in my household agreed on. I haven't given up on this recipe yet, so onto round 2!
