Oh So Tender Brisket

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2002
This recipe is AWESOME!! The flavor is terrific and if you manage to save some for leftovers, they make a great philly-style sandwich. Brisket is kind of expensive in my area but worked wonderfully on a roast.

Peppermint Bars

This is a new induction into my recipes for Christmas, it's great! Read some of the other reviews and cut the amount of candy in half, it's terrific and easy to make.

These cookies are great! The browned butter gives them a really special flavor, my family asks for these a lot!

Egg Foo Young

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2002
This was great...just like we had at a restaurant! I thickened a can of chicken stock, garlic, and parsley for gravy. Using a can of Chinese veggies was easier than chopping everything, though. Very tasty!

Texas Chili Beef Slices

My family LOVES this recipe! Our kids even ask for it as it's a perfect spiciness for everyone. Works great on round steak, roast, you name it!

Ham Stir Fry with Couscous

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2002
OUTSTANDING! My whole family loves this dish, it's now my husband's favorite. It was also a great introduction to couscous, something I had never made before but make often now!

Southwest Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2002
This is a great recipe, something different for once! Reading some of the other reviews, I added garlic and chili powder, then cut the chicken into cubes so it soaked up more flavor. A great crock-pot recipe too!

Vegetable Pizza II

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2003
This is a terrific recipe! You may want to buy an extra roll of crescent dough as there's plenty of "sauce." It's a keeper!

Chocolate Covered Orange Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2003
Our family really loves these. Nice orange flavor, not too strong and have a nice texture. It was a great suggestion to use skewers to dip them in chocolate and I let them air-dry over night.

Fairy Food

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2003
Thank you thank you thank you for this recipe! We too call it sponge candy and it's extremely expensive to buy this stuff at the one candy shop that still carries it at Christmas time only. It was so simple to make, takes very little ingredients that you usually have, and tastes just as great as the spendy stuff. My dad still doesn't believe I made it myself and everyone at work asked for the recipe! I will put my next batch in a 9x13 pan though so it's not so thick.

Buried Cherry Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2003
Very tasty cookies! I had a little trouble with frosting being too thick but a little extra margarine or butter the next time will take care of that because I will be making these again. Great for the cookie jar or on a gift tray.

Real N'awlins Muffuletta

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2004
This was fantastic! It was the most popular thing at our Super Bowl party. Even people who aren't crazy about olives loved it. As with another reviewer, I think using a food processor to chop all this would really cut down on time/work involved. Worth the effort, though!

Granny Smackers

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2004
This was quick to make, I had most of the ingredients on hand, and it tasted great! The only thing I didn't care for was the beer smell was kind of strong when drinking it, maybe I need to use a better beer :-)

Orange Crunch Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2004
This has to be one of the best cake recipes I've ever made! Don't change a thing! I couldn't even see the orange and lemon zest in the frosting and leaving it out would be disappointing. The "crunch" part stays crunchy for at least two days...this cake has never lasted any longer than that in our house, thanks!

Mexican Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2004
These are some very tasty burgers! A nice change from the same-old, same-old. The mix is a little on the sticky side so make sure you grease your hands before forming the patties. My family really enjoyed these!

Garlic Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: May 29, 2004
Very tasty! My family loved it and we'll make it again. Reading from others I used only one cup of bread crumbs and added 2 tsp. garlic powder and it was perfect. Adjust the baking time for the type of chicken-cut you're using and it will turn out great, thanks!

Bacon-Glazed Grilled Onions

Reviewed: May 30, 2004
WOW...were these awesome!! We could have made a meal of these alone. The flavor was great and we had no trouble grilling them (our grill has a "tent" over the burner to prevent flare-ups). Everyone huddled around the grill waiting for the next batch to finish...thanks for the great recipe. This is a new favorite!

Indiana-Style Fried Cabbage

Reviewed: May 30, 2004
I was looking for something different to share at a potluck and did I find gold in this recipe! It's terrific! I didn't think it was greasy at all even though I was expecting it to be with the ingredients but I didn't use all of the fat the bacon left behind either. Thanks for sharing, YUMMY!

Shredded Potato Quiche

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2004
This is a wonderful quiche recipe! The potatoes browned nicely on the outside as they should, they're not going to brown on the inside with the filling...I think if you bake the crust too long before adding the filling, it would be overdone and too crunchy. I mixed the seasonings, hash browns, and butter together in a bowl before pressing into the pan. I thought it was terrific and much better than the traditional pie crust. Good job!
