About this Cook
Mom, wife, and teacher, in that order. Very happy person.
My favorite things to cook
Cozy food for winter days, cool treats for summer ones. Nobody beats my lasagna, or at least so says my son.
My cooking tragedies
In my new home, we had three Christmas dinners in a row ruined by poorly cooked turkeys. I realized I had not changed my recipe or style, and that I had 20+ years of turkey dinner success. The only change were my oven in the new house, and my roasting pan: a stainless steel version that had been a housewarming gift. I tossed out the pan, and went back to the old-fashioned black enamel roaster like I had always used. The next turkey dinner was excellent!

Chef John's Perfect Prime Rib
Om-nom-nommy and easy. This recipe is also great if you think you might lose the electricity, because it only needs those few minutes of actual energy to cook, and you can eat the beef sliced cold as well as hot.

Easy Bacon and Cheese Quiche
I don't like bacon bits, so I used crisp half-slices of bacon, which I cook in the oven once a week to use during the week. I also gently sweated the onion in a pan so my picky eaters would not notice it. I also added a pinch of nutmeg. This recipe was so delicious and so easy. I had it ready by the time everyone else got up and I froze the couple of slices left over to use on a busy weekday morning. Thanks so much!

Sweet Washington Cherry Pie
I ran out of fresh cherries, so I added a handful of sliced plums. Turned out great!
