Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2011
Great flavor!! I'm no expert at cooking, so I must have done something wrong. It was a little dry, but the flavor was wonderful! My husband just said that it needs more "sauce". Thank you for this recipe though.

Spiced Coconut Coffee

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2011
This is a tasty cup of coffe. My husband didn't care to try this recipe, and since some reviews thought the coffee was too weak I used an already brewed cup of coffe. I put 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper, 1/4 tsp cinnamon & 1 clove in a tea bag. I poured the coffee over it & let it steep a little. Then I heated the coconut milk & honey to mix in with it. it turned out tasty. It's probably better with the spices brewed into the coffee though, but I'll make this again. Thanks for the recipe.

Delicious Grape Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2011
This is delicious! My whole family liked it. I made it for a pot luck where my husband works using low-fat cream cheese & fat-free sour cream. There was none left over to bring home. Thanks for sharing.

Fresh Salsa

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2011
Good salsa. I give it 4 stars because I consider my husbands input, & I couldn't give it 4 & 1/2. I used everything from our garden, so i left out cilantro (my husband doesn't like) & jicama (we didn't grow that). I decreased the amount of cumin to 1/2 tsp. We both thought that the cumin was a little over powering. I also decreased the amount of lemon juice to less than 1 tbsp. Without all the cumin, it seemed to make the salsa more tangy than preferred. Since I omitted the can of green chile & tomato, I used more tomato and a fresh pepper from the garden as well. After these changes, my husband really liked it. Thanks for the recipe!

Pickled Beets

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2011
Excellent! I made these for the first time using beets that my husband grew in our garden. They turned out wonderful. I've never had pickled beets before but decided to make them because my husband is so fond of them. (And, what's better than fresh veggies...) The 3 year old would have eaten the whole jar if we let her, and she's a picky eater. I took the advice of other reviewers and peeled the beets before cooking them. I sliced them because I thought it would be easier for the 3 year old to eat. And, I added only 3 cloves to each jar. They don't seem to be overpowering but add just enough of the flavor. We let them sit 2-3 weeks before making another batch to give the flavors time to meld. I will make more as soon as our second round of beets is ready. Thanks for the recipe. We'll use this one again & again.

Roasted Okra

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2011
This is our new favorite way to eat okra. It's quick and easy (and not so slimy) & not greasy. We have a slew of okra in our garden, and it's nice to have a go to recipe that is so easy & tastes delicious! It's also very versatile. You can add different seasonings for a different twist. I've shared this with family that I give okra to, & they all comment on how good it is. Thanks for sharing! definitely a keeper!

Soft Christmas Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2011
I made these just as the recipe stated and found that after chilling the dough, it was difficult to work with. They tasted pretty good but maybe a little too much flour. I will use the advice of previous reviewers and cut back some on the flour. I also had to cut back on the bake time a little. Over all, it is a good recipe. My 4 year old really enjoyed making them!

Baked Omelet

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2012
This is a great recipe! My husband has had me make it for a couple of things going on at work, & he said nobody could stay out of it. They went on and on about how good it was. I did change the seasoning salt to garlic salt because we didn't have the other. I also used cooked breakfast sausage since I had no ham. He liked it so much that he has had me make this dish for our family at home. I really like the fact that you can add anything to this dish. Can't wait to experiment with it more.

Pumpkin Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2013
My whole family liked this fudge. My 2 year old keeps asking me to make her some more. It was gone within a few days with 4 of us eating on it. I think I'll make it for Christmas as well. It has that creamy pumpkin flavor that you get with some pumpkin pies. It's a great alternative to chocolate. I made this following the directions exactly as written, and it turned out wonderful! I had no trouble with the fudge sticking to the foil or being too sticky. I will definitely make this again & again...&again.

Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2013
I started making spaghetti in a hurry one evening before i realized that we had no sauce to go on it. I found this recipe and was pleasantly surprised that it was so flavorful. Since my husband needs meat, I added some cooked ground beef and mushrooms to the sauce. My picky kids devoured their spaghetti, and my husband couldn't say enough about it. I have to admit that it doesn't look at all like the spaghetti sauces that I'm used to or have made in the past. It looks like it will taste bland with the lack of tomato paste or sauce. My husband said that I should start making it all of the time instead of using the stuff in the jar. Will make again!
