Sweet and Crunchy Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2003
This was a very different kind of recipe for me, but I was looking for cholesterol-free recipes so I gave it a try and was glad I did. I left out the oranges and most of sugar and it was still sweet but not too sweet. I loved it.

Carrot Souffle

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2003
I never had carrot souffle before, but decided to make this recipe for company. I was apprehensive, because I thought it sounded a little strange, but it was soooo yummy. Everyone loved it. It was sweet and had a custard-like texture.

Star Spangled Pie

THis was easy to make and so yummy! I wanted a patriotic dessert to make for Election night, but the stores don't carry the patriotic colored cookies in November! I have made it two times since because everyone likes it so much!

American Trifle

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2005
I made this for our Independence Day celebration, mostly thinking the kids would like the jello. Turns out the adults loved it and gobbled up more than the kids! It was worth the effort required to make the presentation spectacular.

Party Punch I

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2005
I made this for a Christmas party yesterday. It was very yummy, but I had to change a few things. I started off with half of the concentrate and half of the soda but all I could taste was the soda. When I added the other half of the concentrate it tasted good. So, I ended up using half of the amount of soda. I made the ice cubes with lemon wedges, but the ice melted right away and then I just had little pieces of lemon floating in the punch. It would have looked better and been less trouble if I had sliced the lemon in circles and just put them on top.

Mini Meatloaves

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2006
these looked more like little cheeseburgers than meatloaves, but they were super yummy. My husband is a big meatloaf fan and I really don't care for it, but we both loved this recipe!

I don't like muenster cheese, so I used Mozzerella instead. It was delicious!

Just okay - A lot more work than the traditional recipe and I didn't think it tasted much better.

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
I liked the idea of cooking the stuffing in the crock pot to free up oven space, but I thought the taste was just okay. An hour or so into cooking I checked and saw it was getting pretty crisp on the bottom, so I added some of the turkey juices, and that helped keep it moist until it was done cooking.

Ruby Red Layered Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
I thought this was just okay. It was very pretty but the fruity parts were too sweet and I didn't like the taste of sour cream mixed in...

A to Z Everything-but-the-Kitchen-Sink Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
These were very good. My first batch came out too flat and crispy, so the second time around, I added an additional half cup of flour and used a bit less baking soda. The second batch were thicker and we enjoyed them more. I also omitted the mace, nutmeg and cloves, as I didn't think they would give the sweeter taste I prefer in a chocoate chip cookie. The cookies still weren't quite as sweet and chocolatey as we prefer, but they got good reviews around here. I'll probably stick with a more traditional chocolate chip cookie recipe next time.

Magic Cookie Bars II

These came out excellent. I made two batches. The first time I followed the recipe exactly and the second time, I substituted white chocolate chips for the butterscotch chips. Thanks for a great recipe!

Chocolate Mint Cookies I

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
Amazing cookies! I followed the recipe exactly and found it to be a bit more work than I would usually put into a cookie, but it was worth it! I don't think my chocoates were wafers, however. They were part Hersheys and part Ghiradelli dark chocolate with natural mint ("Mint Bliss"), because that's what my husband picked up at the store for me. I broke the squares into quarters and put one on each cookie. They melted perfectly and the cookies tasted almost divine! Thanks for a great recipe!

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
Good recipe. I followed the other suggestions and added an extra half cup of flour and found the dough surprisingly easy to work with. I also doubled the cream cheese for the extra flavor and found that the cookies came out well - not overly sweet, but still tasty. Thanks.

Santa Fe Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2008
This salad was even better than I expected, which is good, since the first time I made it I served it to company. I made it as directed, except I put all the ingredients in one large bowl, I used bagged mixed salad greens, extra tomato and chicken. The chicken and the dressing were especially tasty! Oh, I followed some other suggestions and added a can of sweet corn too. I'll make this again for company!
