About this Cook
Middle school teacher for going on 22 years. Mother of three, wife of almost 40 years, soon to have my first grandchild! Raised in the East; lived in the West all my adult life. When I am not at work, I am usually reading, cooking, talking to a friend or a family member, or container gardening on the deck, listening to NPR "And All That Jazz."
My favorite things to cook
cakes, cupcakes, casseroles, cookies, pies, grilling outside, crockpot cooking, old family recipes, soups, cocktails, casseroles, Mexican and Italian, stuffed lobster and other New England recipes
My favorite family cooking traditions
brunch casserole on Christmas morning; stuffed lobster on New Year's Eve, cream puffs on Christmas Eve, Chex Mix and decorated sugar cookies for the holidays, summer salad and pasta salad for the 4th of July, different favorite birthday cakes for all the family members
My cooking triumphs
Sour cream cake, poppyseed cake, chocolate cake(s) of all kinds, French bread, cinnamon swirl bread, popovers, zucchini and fresh tomato casserole (Craig Claiborne-inspired), berry salad, pecan pie, MacIntosh apple pie, New England clam chowder, lasagna, clam fritters, bruschetta, antipasto, moussaka, and deviled eggs.
My cooking tragedies
(1)Prime Rib disaster one Christmas, when oven was on its way out. All that money, over $100, and the meat didn't get done for the meal. (2) eggrolls from scratch-what a mess I made that day!

Spritz Cookies II
These were a hit with my visiting friend when I made them for a baby shower tea using the heart disc of the cookie press. Very quick, very buttery. All the ladies loved them. I'll use this recipe again!

Lemon Butter Cookies
Made these for a baby shower tea party in bunny shapes. Wish I'd cooked them a bit longer so they were crispier, but they were very good nonetheless. They were great with the different flavored teas we served.
