cheflucas's Puerto Rican Breakfast Custard

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2012
Custard was a family tradition in our house, this is good and I have made it many times. The recipe I follow is the same except it calls for 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, I cook in a double boiler to prevent scorching, try the double boiler it works well.

Puerto Rican Breakfast Custard

four and a half star recipe. added 1 egg yolk, 1 tblsp. butter, and some vanilla. would add either more vanilla or more cinnamon.it set much earlier than 25 minutes that i thought i burned it! it was semi flavorless so add some more vanilla or more cinnamon, but overall a good breakfast recipe. make sure you do not use a nonstick pan or you will wreck the nonstick coating when you are whisking it. may make this again (50% chance).

Breakfast Corn Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2012
would rate this four and a half. it was a little dry for my taste. i used home made blackberry jam instead of peanut butter and bananas.although i am not a peanut butter and bananas person.freezing works out great then you just toss them in the microwave with a mug and some water and it is moist and warm.great take along in winter if you don't mind the dryness. just set it on the front heater of your car and you will have some breakfast. you can use dry buttermilk and rehydrate it with water.do NOT let these over cook!would happily take these hunting early in the morning. overall it was a good recipe and if it were not for the honey i would make these all the time.
