Mike's Homemade Pizza

I have used this recipe for pizza crust for two years. Consistent, puffs up slightly. Sauce is good too.

Alfredo Sauce

The recipe itself makes a good consistency alfredo. I added some italian seasoning and an extra two cloves of garlic as well as fresh black pepper. I used 1% milk as that was all I had on hand. I compensated with a shake or two of corn starch, but it was not necessary. With my changes my husband thought it was a 5, but I hate when people rate recipes after they make changes.

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

I have made this recipe several times. Usually as is, sometimes with half-ground oats instead of breadcrumbs. This time I diced the onion and bell pepper by hand. I cut 1/4 strips then squeezed with a paper towel before finishing the knife-work. This was the first time I have not needed more breadcrumbs/oats! I always try to wring out the liquid after processing, but it's pretty difficult to do. Will dice by hand from now on. Also, I dropped cumin to 3 tsp, as it is otherwise a bit much for my taste. Made this as the vegetarian option for friends at a cookout - rave reviews :)

Smoky Grilled Pork Chops

We really liked the flavor and color of the chops made with this rub; however, the end result was much too salty for our liking. I double checked - used garlic powder. Liked the rest though, so will try halving the seasoning salt and increasing the onion and garlic powder to make up for the volume.

Simple BBQ Ribs

We have used this recipe several times since finding it a few months ago. Always tasty, never a complaint! Always use with pork country style ribs as they seem to go on sale frequently. I toss a bottle of beer (a stout) into the boiling mix.

Rhubarb Pineapple Upside-Down Cake

Growing up my mother always made "rhubarb upside down cake". She did not use the pineapple juice, but it makes a lovely addition. I was happy to find this recipe as I seem to have misplaced my copy of my mothers. We have always used yellow cake mix as well. It really does come out of the pan better if you let it completely cool before flipping.

Grilled Brown Sugar Pork Chops

Made the sauce without the ginger because I couldn't find mine. Sweet but not syrupy. Added some ground red pepper but could not taste it. Hubby loved them but I think he was most excited about pork chops cooked over charcoal. Will try with some fine Kentucky bourbon next time!
