About this Cook
My name is vanessa. I am 21 years old. :) I LOVE cooking...ALWAYS have. I am not claiming to know everything, but the little I do know I put to good use. I have always wanted to take a cooking class, ...one day :) in the mean time I love trying new recipes...i would say my favorite part of cooking is seeing the smile on the persons face when they liked what I made. :)
My favorite things to cook
I love baking and making desserts, but I find myself trying new dinner recipes more often. I love cooking things with ingredients I already have at home on an everyday basis...it helps with budgeting. :) but I think most of all i like finding new twists to old family favorites.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Puerto rican rice, ok ok anything Puerto rican lol and Mexican I lovvvve Latin foods.
My cooking triumphs
Noone ever taught me to cook Puerto rican food I learned on my own through trial & error and I am very proud to say I have mastered a couple of dishes! As far as desserts go I'm very adventurous and have brought a smile to others' faces with some things that i have tried.
My cooking tragedies
Relleno de papa...lol I thought I could try this recipe I found, and im usually really good at following recipes, but idk what happened lol it was TERRIBLE!!!

Absolutely Best Brownies
I made these brownies today about 20 mins. ago with the intention to send them with my husband for him and his co-workers to enjoy at work. As soon as they cooled down and I was able to cut them it was like a race to see how many I can put on the platter for his co-workers because he was just putting them away! :) lol he loved them and so did I. I will say that I did not use walnuts or the self rise flour BUT they came out DELICIOUS. So i can only imagine how much more yummy they would have been had I used the right ingredients. (I only had all purpose flour on hand but it did the trick!) Thanks so much for the recipe o will definitely be using this recipe again and again ...now let's see what his co workers have to say :)

Homemade Crispy Seasoned French Fries
I just tried this recipe tonight and to be completely honesti wasnt impressed. I followed this down to the t and at the end a teaspoon of the spices wasnt enough for all the flour so the fries tasted like fried flour. also I found that it took quite long for the fries to get cooked let alone gold and crispy...all in all the end result was not worth the trouble BUT it was a good concept, I think with a little tweeking everyone can find their own tasty way
