High Temperature Eye-of-Round Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2008
i tried this recipe in the hopes that i will change my mind about liking this cut of beef. sad to say it hasn't - i still find the meat too dry for my taste.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2008
i agree with most viewers that you can add anything (within reason) to this soup and it will still be good. since i didnt have any celery, i used a can of cream of celery instead. i also didnt use any chicken flavorings because i used ham bone leftover from a spiral ham we had for dinner. i also added chopped green onions towards the end for color. great recipe!

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2007
i love banana bread and now this is my favorite recipe for it. i didnt have sour cream on hand but had heavy whipping cream so i whipped up a cup and added 1 tsp of lemon juice to it. it turned out really good. i also used pecans instead of walnuts.

Oranged Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2007
i did this recipe once before but didnt rate/review it. i love this recipe - it is a good introduction for a non-cranberry sauce lover. update: i decided to make this again for thanksgiving 2008. this time i used the zest of 1 orange and the juice of 1 orange instead of oj. i also put 3/4 c. white and 3/4 c. brown sugar. i added only 2/3 c. water and i think it this helped in the making the consistency a little thicker. absolutely delicious!

Three Hundred Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2007
i scaled down this recipe to serve 18 and roughly came up with 2 dozen cookies of good size. this is a good recipe to do when you are baking for a lot of people.

Rotelle Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2007
i've had pasta salads before and never really cared for them because i found them too oily and sour for my taste. i was tempted to make this recipe because it had vegetables in it which i found interesting. this recipe turned out to be really good. i used skinless chicken breast instead of turkey. i also used grated parmesan cheese instead of cheddar. i thought about making my own italian dressing but decided to use paul newman's family recipe instead. i also used hormel's real bacon instead of making my own bacon bits.

Graham Cracker Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2006
i was a bit skeptical at first because of the use of graham crackers as the "main" ingredient. i was even more skeptical because the only binding ingredient holding the batter together was 1 14. oz can of condensed milk! but the outcome was surprisingly good and chewy, just like a good brownie. however, i would hesitate to call this a real brownie.

Pork Butt Roast with Vegetables

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2006
this was really good! i did add a lot of garlic and celery with the onions. my husband doesn't like mushrooms so i omitted them altogether. i am not a great fan of gravy so i did not even bother to reduce the liquids to make it. this is definitely a keeper.

Fried Rice with Cilantro

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2006
i tried this with shrimp and added asparagus and bean sprouts to the mix. i didn't have basil but added chopped green onions. i am not a great fan of cilantro but it works in this recipe.

Easy Steam Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2006
i agree with other comments about the chicken being too salty. i tried brining it with an equal amount of sugar and immersed it in cold water, but it still came out salty for my taste. my husband, who loves his salt, loved it though so i am giving this four stars. this might be good with a little ginger too.

Adobo Chicken with Ginger

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2006
i am filipina and i make chicken & pork adobo all the time for my family - my husband is american and so are my stepkids. they love adobo. ginger is not a traditional ingredient in adobo. but this recipe wasn't too bad because, but for the ginger, this is exactly how i would do adobo, except that i would marinate the meats overnight before cooking.

yummy! i followed the recipe as it is and it turned out great. because it is so rich, i only make this around christmas time in place of the more traditional fruit cake.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2005
i only had chocolate pudding and it turned out really good. i did add a tsp. of salt to the batch that i made, which was half the recipe. use paddle to mix in dry ingredients gradually for the dough to really come together.

Aunt Betty's French Dressing

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2005
i love making my own dressings and this one will be one of my favorites. i used white wine vinegar like the recipe called for, and it was just fine - not vinegary at all.

Marinated Rosemary Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2003
Despite marinating the chicken for over 24 hours, the flavors just didn't get into the chicken. The aroma was good though. Will not make again.
