Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2013
I like the fact that this frosting isn't overly sweet. Used this frosting with Sam's Famous Carrot Cake also on this website and it was great!

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2013
At first, I thought the batter was too wet but the cake turned out fine. My husband is the carrot cake expert, and he thought that this cake was good - not really good, but good. There were a few things I added to the batter - about 2 tbsp. of crystallized ginger and 1 tsp nutmeg. I also roughly chopped the raisins. I also used pecans instead of walnuts. Baked the cake in 2 round pans and took the advise of one reviewer and cut the baking time by 20 minutes. Overall, I am keeping this recipe and will probably make this again but going to pass the crushed pineapple in the food processor next time.

Classic Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: May 27, 2012
I am not sure what happened to my dough but it turned out very sticky and I added more flour than what was called for. Despite that, the dough came out pretty awesome! So soft and not at all sweet so the dough can actually be used to make regular dinner rolls.

Sweet Potato Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2011
Like other viewers, I added cinnamon and nutmeg to give more flavor. I also used cinnamon graham crackers for the pie crust. Absolutely love the glazed pecans! This is what makes the cheesecake and can be used to top off other pies, which I intend to do with just a plain sweet potato pie :)

Pumpkin Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2011
One of the reviews I read said that they added more than 2 tsp. pumpkin spice and it was perfect. Taking that as a guide, I added about 1 tsp more pumpkin spice but it still was too bland for my taste. My husband thought it was ok but "not worth getting fat on". I don't think I will be making this again.

Jamaican Jerked Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2011
I made this without the jalapeno peppers and used sirachi sauce for the heat and it turned out great! I am planning to make this again this weekend and will use jalapeno peppers this time. I also marinated the chicken overnight because I wanted to make sure all the pieces get seasoned through. Follow up - this recipe has become one of my standard favorites.

Mushroom Sauce Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2011
made this last night for dinner and everyone in my family loved it - especially the gravy, onion and potato part. i did add creole seasoning to the pork chops just to give it a little zing. i bet this would be good with chicken as well.

Whole Wheat Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
this was good - not to die for, but a good breakfast to start the day. i doubled the recipe and added 1 more egg. took the advice of others and added 1/4 cup more milk (2%). mashed 3 bananas and added it to the batter because i didn't have blueberries. also added about 1 tbsp. pure vanilla and an extra tbsp. of splenda.

French Pastry Pie Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2008
I decided to make my own crust because I couldn't find any at the frozen section at our local store. I am so glad I made that decision because this is the best pie crust - together with grandma ople's apple pie recipe, this was a match made in heaven. I will always use this pie crust from now on.

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2008
I used the french pastry pie recipe for this pie - I added 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. cinnamon and 1/2 tsp nutmeg to the sauce and had no problems with the color at all. The sauce, combined with the french pastry pie, is what makes this pie so good. Next time I make this, I will do what others did by combining half the sauce with the apples and pour the other half over the lattice top.

Soft, Moist and Gooey Cinnamon Buns

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2008
i was looking for a good cinnamon bun recipe and i think i found the best - husband said it was the best thing i ever baked! i only had banana pudding mix on hand and like some, put the entire box in. i was a little worried about the banana flavor, but it turned out fine - you won't even know it was in it. i did omit the raisins and used pecans instead of walnuts. i also took heed of others and doubled the brown sugar cinnamon mix. i thought it would be sweet enough without the frosting so i omitted it completely. definitely will be one of my favorite things to bake.

Quinoa with Veggies

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2008
both my husband and i love the flavors of this dish. as the recipe states, you can use almost any vegetable that you have on hand. i used garlic, red onion, fresh corn cut from the cob, red bell pepper and celery. i also used red quinoa which, i think, takes more time to cook than white quinoa. awesome recipe!

Swordfish a la Siciliana

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2008
the only thing i didn't have were the pine nuts - because the fish wasn't fried or grilled, it made the sauce too watery. next time, i will either fry or grill the fish first.

Chocolate Trifle

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2008
everyone thought this was really good - the one drawback is that you can only eat so much of it. i followed some of the suggestions - i added bailey's cream and used real cream instead of cool whip. if i had used the cool whip maybe it wouldnt have been as rich as it was. however, if you are a chocoholic, this recipe is for you.
