About this Cook
I'm 15 years old and I LOVE to cook and bake. I am the oldest of a very large family and so that gives me plenty of opportunity to do so:) I try my best to eat as healthy as possible and because of health issues I mainly eat grain/gluten-free. The best thing about me is that I am a born-again Christian on my way to Heaven!!
My favorite things to cook
Anything and Everything!! I love trying new recipes. Desserts and baking are always fun, but I usually stay away from anything with yeast in it(we don't get along).
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Thanksgiving and Christmas my mom and I stay up till around 4:00a.m. cooking for the big day. It's so much fun!! Cooking with my mom is awesome. She is the best cook ever. I also enjoy spending time in the kitchen with my siblings.
My cooking triumphs
None to speak of...yet.
My cooking tragedies
Too many to count!! A mistake I repeatedly make is forgetting I have things cooking and leaving them in the oven or on the stove to long:) Always a disaster. Once, when I was around 12, I was making a cheesecake and my hair got caught in our Kitchen Aid mixer and it rolled all the way up so that my head was touching the mixer. I have pretty long hair and I was so scared that I would have to chop it all off!! It was really funny though. My cousins and sisters were laughing hysterically at me.

Colombian Lentils
Yum!! Made no changes except for the addition of garlic, and it turned out great. I served it over quinoa for a healthy and comforting meal. For those who felt this recipe was bland or needed something, a squeeze of lemon juice is a nice touch. Thanks so much for sharing; I will be making this again soon!!

Tasty Lentil Tacos
Incredible!! What an awesome, healthy substitute. You could hardly tell the difference between these and ground beef tacos. They turned out great. Everyone liked them, and almost everyone loved them. I had to quadruple the recipe to feed our family, and they still wanted more!! I had soaked my lentils overnight so I cut the amount of chicken broth almost in half. I also just put the salsa on top of the tacos instead of adding to the lentils. We had this on corn tortillas with cabbage, onion, cilantro, and lemon. Will definitely make again!! Thanks for sharing:)

Pumpkin Oatmeal
My new favorite oatmeal recipe!! It is so warm, delicious, and filling. I can eat oatmeal only on weekends, and this is the one I've made for the past couple of weekends. I used 1/2 the milk called for because I normally soak my oats overnight so they are already have some liquid in them. Other than that the changes I made were to use coconut milk in place of soy, and clover honey in place of avocado. Thanks for sharing!!
