I am a Photographer and a student living in NYC, born and raised. In my free time, I love to visit various restaurants and try out different cuisines. At times I will try my hand at cooking dishes, to which everyone always loves the outcome. I am not afraid to try new things and ingredients.
Despite my love for the visual medium, there is an inner "Foodie" inside of me that likes to cook, and loves to see the pleasing expressions of those I feed.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook 'quick & easy' meals that are savory in taste, and very healthy in nutrition. Although I lean towards non-meat cuisines due to lack of time, I do like to cook poultry, and is looking forward to cooking more seafood-based dishes. I love seafood.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Around the holidays, all the women of my family get together to make THE BEST Puerto Rican Cocquito (alcoholic egg-nog, if you will). Not to mention all of the amazing food to assist it!
My cooking triumphs
I created a dish with chicken breasts marinated in Italian dressing (non-creamy), and green peppers and onions. Threw it all in a hot pan, waited for the juices to boil down and for the garlic to roast. It came out sooooo tender and good. The vinegar in the dressing provided the sweet tang. The garlic provided the kick, and the peppers gave me a nice punch. Delicious!
My cooking tragedies
I thought Hershey's chocolate kisses could be used in any pastry while baking. I dropped a few into cupcake batter and placed it in the oven. It came out very foul. The kisses ended up burning inside the yeast, plus the cupcakes couldn't completely rise due to the kisses in them. Yuck!
