About this Cook
A writer, artist in most ways. Love to try new things and have even made up some recipe's just as to how I'm feeling...loads of fun and usually always turns out wonderful
My favorite things to cook
Vegetarian and baked deserts. I love to create.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every April Fools day my mom would have pancakes; but for my dad, she would cut a piece of cloth just smaller than his pancake and put more batter on top as to cover the cloth. She would fry the pancake like usual. When our dad would cut into his pancake all the kids would giggle around the table and he'd act like it was the first time it was ever done to him.... We all got to shout "April Fools!" I sure miss that time with my dad and my mom for thinking of doing that to him. I think about that every April Fools Day.
My cooking triumphs
Making my mom's Pumpkin Pie (her special recipe) every Thanksgiving and Christmas. I have even mastered that recipe without eggs and it's just as good.
My cooking tragedies
When I first got married (I won't tell you how many years ago) and I was making Spaghetti, I went to drain the water out of the hot boiling noodle pan by putting the lid just a wee bit away from the edge and started to pour the water off....the whole lid slipped off and down into the sink went the whole pot of noodles. I started cooking the noodles from the beginning again and when I went to pour off the water again, the lid slipped off again and down the sink went the noodles and water. UGH!! So, I did it again only this time I succeeded but after that, I found a colander and haven't been without one ever since.

Baked Ziti I
This was so very delicious. I definitely put this recipe in my Recipe Box. I made it meatless using a soy product instead, perfect! Wish I had taken a picture, it was very pretty when finished.

Pumpkin Muffins II
VERY FANTASTIC. Just what I wanted, a recipe for Pumpkin Muffins that were made from the raw pumpkin to the oven, all from natural ingredients. It turned out beautiful to look at and so very tasty. I bet when the grandkids get home from school I won't have any left for tomorrow. More beautiful than any pre-made mix I have used. This is going to be my main recipe for muffins from now on. Oh, I thought I'd make my own pre-made mix by putting all dry ingredients in a jar (or zip bag)and when I want to make them again (if I'm in a hurry), I'll just pour out the dry mix from a jar and then add the oil and pumpkin puree. And another thing, I made it without eggs, using about 1.5 tbsps Tapioca powder in it's place and adding moisture if needed when adding the oil and pumpkin. See how nice they turned out?

Easy Fruit Cobbler
I used to make this all the time, years ago, ( I won't tell you how many). I hadn't made if for very long time and forgot some of the instructions and the 'how much'. I even made it today from memory and see I forgot a couple things....so by chance I got the idea to come and look here in allrecipes and low and behold, here it is. I'll have to hurry and go change the recipe I gave to a friend last week to use up some of her peaches from her tree so her recipe will turn out right. Hope she hasn't tried it yet......
