Easy Oatmeal Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2012
These came out very moist but I must agree that the flavor is VERY BLAND. I made a 2nd batch since they're so quick to make and added cinnamon and raisins to enhance the flavor. Next time I will add brown sugar and vanilla. Overall a good basic recipe that you can make your own.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2012
Easy to make but I must agree with some of the others that something is missing with the flavor of this crust. The texture is good but it needs more flavor so gave it 4 stars. I'll experiment by adding other ingredients to bump up the flavor.

Grandmother's Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2011
The recipe came out GREAT! This was a very easy to make basic muffin and they were very moist. Next time I'll add some blueberries. I used 2 cups of flour instead of 1-3/4.

Grandma's Lemon Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2011
This pie was super easy to make and very good. I made my own pie crust from this site "Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust" The custard has a great lemon flavor with a touch of tartness. I used real lemons and the zest because I didn't have lemon extract. The only thing I would change next time is use less vanilla extract in the Meringue it was too much I'll use half next time. Oh and the directions for the Meringue forgot to mention adding the 6 Tablespoons of white sugar so I added them to the egg whites, although it could've been added to the water and corn starch mixture, either way I got it done. Would have given 5 stars if not for that but definitely close. So I give this 4.5 stars

Extra-Yummy Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2011
Just made for breakfast this morning and they are light and fluffy just how I like my pancakes. I did omit the cinnamon because to me it wasn't necessary for my flavor pallet. This one is a keeper! (5 stars)

Fluffy Biscuits

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2011
The biscuits are flaky but they have absolutely no taste to them using regular milk. I will have to try again using buttermilk. I also used butter flavored shortening instead of butter.

Lemon Lover's Pound Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2011
This recipe didn't work for me at all! Since this received high reviews I wass expecting a great cake. The cake was way too heavy and not a good flavor. The only thing that did taste fairly good was the icing which I will use again. I've seen other recipes for lemon pound cake that calls for sour cream that ask for baking powder maybe that was missing. My daughter says the cake taste more like a short bread cookie and it did have that flavor.... so I won't be using this one again.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2011
Made this last night so deserves the 5 star rating!! this was my first time making chicken pot pie. I doubled the recipe and will definitely make this again! What I did differently was to bryne (salt water) 5 chicken leg quarters for a couple hours in the refridgerator. I didn't have any chicken breast on hand but that would have really made the flavor in your mouth pop even more! Then cooked the chicken for 1 hour in the bryning mixture. Took the chicken out to cool and used the broth for the recipe so there was no need to use can broth. After chicken cooled I took the chicken off the bone in nice bit size pieces. I used 1 16 oz bag of mixed vegetagles and chopped 4 stalks fresh celery, cooked them in just enough of my left over chicken broth until tender. Instead of using an onion I used onion soup mix in my roux so no need for the extra butter, next time I'll use half the packet onion soup mix. All I had to add was pepper for seasoning. I also used evaporated milk. I also made my own pie crust which was a 5 star rating "Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust" here on All Recipes.

Classic Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2011
This was my first time making Sheperd's Pie. I didn't have the rosemary seasoning so used marjoram, I'm not a big fan of thyme so will definitely not use so much the next time. I also used onion soup mix to give it more flavor. I would recommend tasting your the meat mixture to add more salt and pepper to your suite your taste buds. Other than that it was easy to make and a great comfort food that will keep the the belly full and satisfied.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2011
I followed the recipe to the "T" and must admit I was a bit skeptical about adding cloves to the recipe but to my surprise the flavor was AWESOME!! They came out chewy and delicious. It's best to take the cookies out of the baking sheet when they're fresh out of the oven, I used a non stick cookie sheet. Cookies didn't last too long in my household LOL! Will definitely use this recipe again

Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2011
I didn't have nor particularly care for thyme so used Italian seasoning and substituted vegetable broth for water. I also used the canned tomatoes with basil. It was so good my daughter said she wants Tomato soup when she gets sick instead of chicken noodle. This will definitely be part of my monthly menu. Taste good hot or cold and can be for lunch or dinner.

Shortbread Cookies II

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2011
These cookies were so rich in flavor and taste and super easy to make. If I had known how easy these were to make I would have made long time ago instead of buying those Danish store bought ones in the tin. Just 4 simple ingredients!! I will definitely be making these again!

Extreme Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2011
This cake was super moist OMG let me tell you... so good I made it twice in one week. I used a bundt cake pan so I had extra frosting from the 1st batch since I only frosted the top of the cake. I also read the reviews and substituted the 1 cup of boiling water for 1 cup of strong hot coffee. For the frosting I only used 1 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, just thought it would be too, too much chocolate for me and I was right. Next time I'll decrease to 3/4 cup just to try. All in All the chocolate on chocolate still worked well together and came out so good!! FYI - The batter will look watery and not the consistency of box cake batter so don't be alarmed for those that haven't tried the recipe yet.
