Cherry Fluff

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2011
This salad is delicious. I followed the recipe exactly and it came out perfect, nice and fluffy. I did make sure the pineapple was very well drained as I think this is very important for fluffy results. Delicious with chopped pecans added. I took it to a potluck where it disappeared quickly.

Taco Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2011
I doubled the recipe and used 1 can tomatoes(slightly drained) and some salsa. Also 1lb beef and 1 can chili beans. I used 2 cups of cheese which I put half on top of the noodles and the other half on top of the chips as directed in the recipe. The cheese on top of the chips turned extremely hard and crunchy(didn't care for that). Overall it was good and would probably make again. Good w/ sour cream.

Outrageous Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2010
These cookies were sooo good right out the oven I had to run and write a review. Followed recipe exactley except doubled it and used a little less choco. chips(didn't think I could cram anymore in). Turned out beautiful. They're not too flat and brown up perfectly. Hope there just as good the next day.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2010
I thought this was good but not great. I doubled the recipe for 2 loaves but ended up only needing half the glaze. No way I could or would want to put on that much glaze. I did decrease the sugar in the glaze and thought it was still too sweet(FYI I am a huge sugar fan). Tastes like saltine crackers. I decreased the milk slightly and it was nice and moist. I would make again but the kids like my other recipe better.

Blueberry Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2010
Delicious. I did make a crumb topping(minus the nuts) as directed in lanaiah's review & it was scrumptious. I made them in 7in loaf pans and got 3 gorgeous loafs.

Peppery Shrimp and Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2009
This was delicious. I made a double batch. I used less pepper flakes because of the kids(frowns) but it was still very good. Some of us sprinkled a little cayenne on while eating. I also used a wee bit less sugar. For the broth I did mostly water & a chicken boullion cube & then a little bit of red wine. I also used raw shrimp that I sauteed in a little butter & garlic. Will for sure make again. Thanks

Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich with Garlic Mayo

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2008
The garlic mayo rocks! Didn't use all the mayo though. Don't be shy w/the mayo it is really good. I used an arm chuck roast sliced thin. I also sprinkled with a little Italian season instead of Oregano. Also lightly sprinkled with season salt before baking. I also used sliced Mozz. cheese instead of shredded. Wonderful & will make again.

Beer Butt Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2008
What a fun recipe. I am an amature griller & found this to be not as scary as I thought it would be. This kind of cooking is out of my comfort zone but now I feel confident in my grilling abilities. I used 2 chickens but forgot to double the other ingredients but it still worked out great. Chick. was done in 2 hrs, almost overdone. One chicken was dry, the other semi-moist. I will decrease cooking time next time. I also tucked a little onion in the end of the chick. to keep the steam in. I used a charcoal Weber & the lid would not fit on tightly until the chick. shrunk a little(lid was resting on chick.) Will for sure make again & again!!

Bar-B-Q

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2008
This was delicious. I have been making bbq's the same way for many years but wanted to try something different. The family loved it. I did decrease the brown sugar to a wee bit more than 1/4 cup & thought it was still too sweet so I added my usual squirt of mustard to balance it out. I also decrease the water to only a 3tbsp or less. I also add a green pepper & onion to the browning hamburger. Will for sure be making again.

Hot Fudge Ice Cream Bar Dessert

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2008
I give this 5 stars for ease and 4 for taste. I made it about 6 hrs ahead of time and it was extremely rich. We had some the next day & it was better. Not as rich, more "blended" tasting. The only thing I did different was to spread the hot fudge on the bars then the cool whip. Seemed like it would be impossible to spread thick hot fudge over soft cool whip. Will for sure make again.

Fried Mozzarella Cheese Sticks

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2008
Awsome!! I used regular crumbs & just added italian seasoning. I also double coated them. After coating I re-dipped in the egg & then in the crumbs as 1 coating doesn't look like enough. So quick, easy & delicious.

Meaty Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2008
This was delicious!! I reduced the seasonings just a tiny bit & used 2 cans tomatoes & it was sooo good. Makes a huge batch. I had enough for 2 adults & 3 kids + leftovers for lunch and some to freeze for later. Kids always want Spaghetti & I get so tired of sauce from the store. Hubby even commented it was better than store bought. One child commented it tasted "peppery" I think from the green pepper but us adults loved that. Will for sure make again. Couldn't be any easier. Thanks

Grandma's Peach French Toast

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2008
This is heavenly!! I doubled the recipe for five people. I was only able to fit 8 slices of bread in each 9x13. Not sure if your suppose to stack them to get all 12 in or what. I did not soak overnight just let it soak for 1 hr after prep. in the a.m. and it was perfect. This will for sure become a regular for us. Thanks

Pretzel Turtles

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2007
These are delicious!! They are also sooo easy. I did like a few others & stacked everything together before baking. This didn't work very well for me. The pecans slid off. I think after 4 mins the Rolos were almost too melted. I will try again sometime(soon) with only 3 mins baking and put the pecans on after.

Italian Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2007
This had a good flavor but was way too thick. We like our soups a little more "juicy". I tried adding more water but it was loosing it's flavor and my 6qt pot was full to the brim. Would make again but some how get more liquid in it. Thanks

Baked Beef Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2007
4 stars for taste 3 for texture. After about 1 1/2hrs the stew was so thick I could barely stir it. It had a "glue" like texture. I used beef broth instead of just water and had to use some of that to thin out before eating. Also the bread never blended in. We could see and feel slimy bread pieces. Maybe that can be eliminated next time. I could also see the little "balls" of the tapioca but couldn't really feel them while eating. I would probably make again because the flavor was nice but maybe try tweaking like other reviewers.

Kettle Corn

Fabulous!!! I made this in my new Whirley Pop popper. I just guessed on the amount of oil & it was perfect. I was so impressed that it really did look & taste like professional made stuff. Whole family(kids & adults) loved it.

Beef Stroganoff with Noodles

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
This was yummy! I was a little hesitent because of all the mixed reviews. It seems the biggest problem is with the salt but I figured this was an easy fix and decided to take a chance. I did leave out the salt entirely. I coated the meat in seasoned flour & simmered uncovered most of the time to reduce the liquid a little. I also added onion powder & pepper during simmering & to the final result. I noticed a thick film of grease on top so I had to keep trying to scrape some of this off. I also only added a couple spoons of sour cream. I served over egg noodles that I coated lightly with melted butter and a shake of garlic powder. Kids really enjoyed!!

Easy Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
This was delicious and easy. I did use some suggestions from reviewers. I sprinkled the apples with a little cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar mixture. Also I decreased the water to maybe 1/3 cup because I was using home-grown Haralson's that are really juicy. The apples came out really good. Also I decreased the brown sugar to 3/4 cup and found it really sweet. I want to decrease it a little more next time but not sure if that would affect the texture of the crumbs. I also cut the baking time to 40 mins and it was perfect.
