About this Cook
hi, i'm krissy. Jesus and the Catholic Church are the most important things in my life. i'm very conservative, yet i'm artistic and fun. yes, it's possible. i work hard and play hard. i'm an entrepreneur. i don't believe in the theory of "limited wealth", bc the Lord of Creation made each of us creative. if you don't feel you have a piece of the pie, go bake another pie! I'm into blogging and so many other forms of social media (esp twitter). I love digital photography, writing, designing and making jewelry, cooking, spending time with my husband, doing charity work to end blood cancer, and petting my Maine Coone cat Michael. All my extended family are important to me. My husband is a cancer survivor of several blood cancers, and that's why I volunteer to end cancers such as Leukemia. If there is anything else you want to know about me, leave a comment on my blog w your email addy, and I'll email you back! my blog addy is Take care!
My favorite things to cook
crock pot cooking, fish dishes, chili, cooked vegetable dishes, fries, salads, well rounded healthy meals, cookies
My favorite family cooking traditions
cooking with the women in my family, cooking together for Thanksgiving -- or each of us bringing a potluck type dishe for Thanksgiving or Christmas, eating a family meal at my house w family members after we have prepared together, preparing food together and eating it at my parent's house. My parents are the one's who got us interested in food!
My cooking triumphs
great chili, my great "sandy cookies" i imitated creating from childhood (similar to shortbread but not as hard)
My cooking tragedies
my monkey bread! came out hard as a rock, like lumps of baseballs. thing about it is, i followed the recipe exactly. sometimes i don't always follow the recipes exactly, bc we as cooks know that sometimes you must pinch hit. but i followed it exactly bc it was a new recipe and i knew i couldn't make "monkey bread" correct the first time on my own, without a recipe. let's just say it was the worse cooking failure i've ever had! do you all know what "monkey bread" is? it is called that i guess bc it looks like the kind of bread monkeys might pull apart and eat, and it is the color of monkeys (bc it has a brown sugar color). monkey bread is like cinnamon rolls, sort of, but monkey bread is in one big loaf and everyone shares it and pulls it apart. it is coated with a brown sugar coating and is soft and has ball shapes all stuck together to pull apart. well my ball shapes were hard as rocks, LOL. can't figure out how or why. 'Nuff said.
