Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2013
Will be making this again, and again, and again... Added 1 onion, 1 stalk celery and 2 carrots (all chopped) like other reviewers and added 2 more tablespoons of butter while cooking them until they were softened. Wonderful with a hearty, crusty french bread!

Southern Fried Chicken Strips

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2013
I made this last night and it was a hit! I did make some changes: I did not have dry potato flakes, so I crushed some plain potato chips instead and used about 2 tablespoons of that. I also found that one egg was not enough, but you could probably go with 1/4 cup of flour as I had plenty of that left. Finally 1/4 cup of vegetable oil was not near enough; maybe if you were using a very small pan, but for my large pan I used a cup or more (you want the chicken about half submerged in the oil). Not a health-conscious meal, but it is delicious and pretty easy to make. I will make this again.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2011
Doubled recipe and it turned out great. I am a spicy food fan and was surprised by the kick from the pepper. I can handle the hottest food but thought this might be a bit much for my family. I thought I might tone down the pepper next time, but they said they loved it. I would not change that. But I can see how this soup would easily accept variations. I look forward to experimenting with it in the future!

Fried Pork Chop

Reviewed: May 10, 2010
I followed another reviewers advice and coated the pork chops on each side with Lowry's before putting them in a flour/Lowry's mixture. They came out very tasty. Even my wife said, "ooh, this is good"; high praise if you know my wife :D

Guacamole

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2007
This is the tastiest guacamole I've ever had! So glad I found it! It was so easy to make, after I finished off the first batch, I put the ingredients on my grocery list right away. I did not add the optional cayenne, but I'll try that next time.

Down Home Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2005
Awesome! This is the best Mac n' cheese I've had. I served it to my mom one day when she was staying with us; she said it is good enough to be served when we have company over for dinner. NOTE TO THOSE WHO RATE RECIPES WITH LOWER RATINGS WHILE ADMITTING THEY DID NOT FOLLOW THE RECIPE: Either don't rate the recipe until you try it again, or add your review without giving it a rating.

D's Famous Salsa

Reviewed: May 1, 2005
This is a great salsa as is. I think it can be made better with some personal touches, but it is GREAT for doing just that! Add whatever you like that you have enjoyed in other salsas (minced carrot for example, adds a slightly sweet, crunchy quality). But having said that, I repeat; this really IS a great salsa as is.

Chili I

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2004
I have been making this recipe for over a year now, and it is like a part of our family now. I probably make this chili more than I make any other homemade dinner. I use red wine vinegar instead of distilled white, and I think it tastes great!
