French Crepes

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2012
MELANIESAYSHI is right about this recipe; it turns out great if you follow her tips! I needed a quick breakfast to throw together this morning because my boyfriend was leaving for a week, and these went together quickly and turned out wonderful. I tried another popular crepe recipe from here a while back that turned out too thick, a lot like thin pancakes, but these were spot on. It seems obvious now that I remember how much butter went into these, but I did discover that I didn't need to use cooking spray in my nonstick pan (I thought it would help them turn out more like the picture, but it mostly made them greasy). Still, I got nothing but praise for these. This is your winning crepe recipe for sure.

Jim's Cheddar Onion Soda Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
This bread was fun and simple to make. I give it four stars because it was heavy and biscuit-like, which I hadn't realized, and I'm not all that fond of biscuits. Then again, the heaviness could have been a result of the fact that I used melted butter and olive oil in place of softened, and all-purpose flour instead of bread flour. Even so, my boyfriend liked it well enough and went back for seconds, so I think if you are a fan of biscuit-type bread then this loaf would be a nice variation on that.

Baked Spaghetti I

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
Having never made baked spaghetti, I was just looking for a base recipe I could adjust according to what I had in my currently limited pantry, and this delivered. I halved it, used fettuccine noodles and none of the soup or ground beef, and just threw a ton of spices in with the tomatoes and such while they were on the stove. It especially worked great because I put it in a loaf pan in the toaster oven while I was making a cheddar-onion soda bread I also got from allrecipes =]

Apple Crumble Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2012
I, too, made this for my boyfriend and his buddies and it was a huge hit! I was really pleased with how great it was, especially with so little effort required. I followed the great suggestions of other reviewers, which BUONICONTO kindly put together in one review, and also added rolled oats to the crumble. Delicious!

Green Grog

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2012
I made this stuff for my 21st birthday/Halloween party and, despite going through some improv alterations, it was sooo good! I halved the recipe and used pineapple sherbet in place of lime and lemon-lime seltzer water when I meant to grab soda, and someone added a bunch of coconut vodka in addition to the rum. We made it in a big plastic cauldron with a hunk of dry ice, which turned it into a smoking slushy drink! Deliciously tangy, not too sweet or sour -- by far the best drink I've made.

Baked Honey Mustard Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2012
I was excited for this recipe because I love honey mustard, but it didn't meet my expectations. This chicken was okay - followed the recipe and I found that it came out sticky on the outside and drier than I would have hoped for. It wasn't bad tasting, but I wouldn't make this again.

No Bake Pumpkin Pie I

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2011
This was so delicious! I made a gingersnap crust for this pie and mixed in a cup of apple butter in place of some of the condensed milk. It was a huge hit at my family's Thanksgiving this year -- I won't use any other pumpkin pie recipes after this one!
