Donut Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2011
Absolutely love these. Added a dash of salt and made 10 regular sized muffins since I don't own a mini-muffin pan. Outstanding.

Beer Braised Irish Stew and Colcannon

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2011
This is such an great recipe. Very rich and decadent tasting. I used a big can of Guinness for the beer and the stew was awesome. Never had Colcannon before but it was so good. I cooked the cabbage in the bacon grease just for added flavor and had to stop myself from eating all the cooked cabbage by itself. Thanks so much for an excellent recipe!

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2011
So yummy I had to go for a second walk today to make up for this decadent dinner! Followed directions for chicken as written, but took a major shortcut for the sauce because I lack patience :). After browning chicken in pan poured in some chicken stock, covered and let it cook for 20 minutes. Removed chicken and stirred in two big spoonfuls of the new Philly garlic flavored cooking cream. Amazing flavor. Feel like I need another walk just writing about this excellent dish.

Chewy Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2011
Excellent, super-chewy peanut butter cookie. I did double the amount of peanut butter because they're never "peanut buttery" enough for me with just half a cup. They baked up huge, chewy, and perfect in exactly 14 minutes. To the reviewer below who said "keep it real people," you obviously did something wrong.

Alice Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2011
Excellent recipe. Cooked the mushrooms along with a chopped onion in the bacon grease with a dab of butter. Used extra sharp cheddar because it's all I had, otherwise followed recipe directions. Will make this again and again, much to the chagrin of my arteries. =)

Super-Delicious Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2011
Wow this was such an awesome recipe. I adore this soup in the well-known restaurant, but this homemade version is even better, in my opinion. Only thing I changed was to use kale instead of spinach. It has a nice heat to it--but not overpowering (to me at least) and it came out rich, flavorful, and delicious. I ate two bowls, but should have stopped at one because it's such a filling soup that I felt stuffed later. Can't wait to have more of it tonight!

Best Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2011
Very good and so easy to make using whatever ingredients you have on hand. For instance, I didn't have tuna or cream of mushroom soup, but I did have canned chicken and cream of chicken and herb soup, so I used that. I added two soup cans of milk so it was in no way, shape or form, dry at all. I didn't have potato chips either, but I did have mini tater tots, so on the top those went. Picky son is gobbling it up as I type. Don't forget to soften the onions before adding. Thanks for a great idea!

Brownie Biscotti

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2011
I adored these. Followed the recipe exactly as far as ingredients go. I baked them for 20 minutes at 375 degrees, removed them from the oven for 15 minutes, sliced them, then baked them for 10 minutes on each side at 300 degrees. I had absolutely no problem with them crumbling.

Applesauce Oat Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2011
Just made this and am eating it warm and without frosting. What a great little cake. Very moist, not too sweet, dense, but not heavy. I didn't have shortening, so I used a stick of butter instead and it turned out awesome. Thanks for the recipe!

Mama's Asian Chicken and Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2011
This was pretty good -- just finished eating a bowl. Doubled the sauce, but not the brown sugar since that would have been way too sweet for my tastes. Added red peppers and broccoli to the chicken. Hubby will love this; he really likes sweet dishes. Edit: Just tasted this about 30 minutes after having my bowl and it tastes 100% better now than when it was first cooked. Interesting.

Chocolate-Peanut Butter Mallow Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2011
I really enjoyed these, at least the way I made them. I used strong coffee instead of milk because chocolate always tastes better when you add coffee. Skipped the peanut butter layer since I was out. Instead I dropped spoonfuls of marshmallow fluff, lightly sprinkled it with chopped walnuts, dropped pieces of the remaining brownie batter on top, then sprinkled just a few semisweet and white chocolate chips before baking the 2nd time. Pretty darned good.

Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2011
Excellent recipe to work from, even my picky son loved this. I browned the steaks in a pan then put them in the crock pot. I poured off most of the grease from the pan, sprinkled a tablespoon or so of flour and cooked it for one minute. Stirred in one can of french onion soup, one can of cream of mushroom soup, a can of beef broth and a package of Lipton onion soup mix. Added a few shakes of Worcester and cooked until hot. Poured this over the steaks in the crock pot and cooked for 3 hours on low. The meat is melt-in-your-mouth tender, the gravy flavorful and plentiful enough to serve over mashed potatoes. Topped the steaks off with mushrooms sauteed in butter and garlic. I was afraid the gravy would be way too salty even though I added NO additional salt, but it wasn't. I'm not a person who salts her food and I found it just right.

White Chocolate Gorp

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
Outstanding! Followed recipe except I used peanut butter M&M's instead of mini M&M's. Gave this as gifts in my office and someone said to me "What kind of drug did you put in that stuff because I couldn't stop eating it!"

Mexican Wedding Cakes II

These are awesome. The only thing I did different was to toast the walnuts a bit before chopping them. Not sure if this makes a lot of difference but they are so good I barely waited for them to cool before sneaking a few.

Eggnog Quick Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
Awesome eggnog bread with modifications. My office ate up the loaf in less than 45 minutes this morning. I added a box of vanilla pudding mix (only had sugar free on hand and used that), extra half cup of eggnog, used 2 cups of flour, 3 tsp rum extract, 2 tsp vanilla, and 1/2 tsp nutmeg. It was incredibly moist and flavorful this way.

Golden Yam Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2010
Oh my goodness, these are wonderful. Other than using a fresh grated sweet potato instead of a yam, I followed the recipe exactly and they came out sweet, moist, and probably the yummiest dessert I've ever tasted. Sooo addicting. Thank you Starflower!

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2010
Hubby loved this so much I had to make it a second time in one week. Used Frank's Buffalo Wing sauce and bottled ranch dressing (because I never have the powder mix at home). Used the butter the first time, but forgot it the second time. Can't tell any difference. Served with a sweet coleslaw. Awesome recipe!

Fudge Puddles

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
These are awesome. I made it super easy on myself and used Pillsbury Simply Peanut Butter pre-portioned cookie dough and just dropped them into a regular sized cupcake pan. Used the back of a tablespoon to form the well in the cookies. Nuked the fudge ingredients together for one minute and stirred until completely melted. Had two dozen of these baked and filled in about 20 minutes. How easy is that? Everyone (including a picky son) raved about them. Thanks, Debzy, for a great recipes

Bada Bing Bada Banged Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2010
These were so awesome. Pretty much followed the recipe as written except I used fresh chopped garlic and sea salt. Served with a dollop of sour cream which was a great compliment to all of the spices. Can't wait to make them again!
