Muesli

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2012
Once I finally figured out how to serve this, I absolutely love it. Initially, I was eating it like cold cereal as one of the pictures shows. That left a little to be desired. I didn't like the oatmeal in it that way. I read on a website that you're supposed to eat museli after it's been soaked in cloudy apple juice overnight. I wasn't that brave, so instead I soaked it in skim milk overnight and the results are marvelous! The oats puff up big and chewy. I didn't use any sugar, but substituted 1/4 cup of toasted coconut for the sugar. I love it this way - not too sweet. I used about 1/2 cup of golden raisins and 1/2 cups of sweetened craisins. I have already made a second batch and am really looking forward to this as my breakfast staple. Thank you so much for posting this Jen.

Chicken Puffs

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2011
This recipe was fairly bland. There seemed to be too much bread for the amount of chicken. I don't think we'll make this again.

Paula's Bread Sticks

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2013
We loved this - omitted the sesame seeds and brushed butter on top just out of the oven and sprinkled with fairy dust (4 parts dry Parmesan cheese, 3 parts garlic powder, 2 parts onion powder, 1 part oregano). Tasted just like the Olive Garden bread sticks. A definite keeper. Thank you!

Edamame and Avocado Spread

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2012
I thought this was really bland. I tried it just as is. Later I added jalepeno, onion and tomatoes. Those helped quite a bit.

Cucumber-Avocado Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2012
This is just okay. I wasn't really sure how much a large cucumber was, mine was about 12 inches long and 2 inches in diameter. It seemed to have too much cucumber in it. I like gaucamole better than this dip, but thanks for posting!

Susan's Creamed Cucumbers

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2012
Update to review: I ran out of evaporated milk in a can and used this substitute that worked great: 1/6 cup of dry nonfat milk mixed with a shy 1/4 cup water. Original review: This was fantastic! I didn't add any salt or hot sauce. I used garlic powder and onion powder instead of garlic salt and onion salt. Also, I seeded the cucumbers before slicing them and I think that really helped the dressing to not be too runny. Thank you Diane and Mom-in-Law for a superb recipe!

Quick Pickled Jalapeno Rings

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2012
These are fantastic! I learned a lot from viewing the video for this recipe on foodwishes.com. I used jalapenos from my garden - about 13 of them and this with the amount of brine here made a 1 pink jar. I have eaten them in salads, burritos, on nachos and just solo. I will make again and again! Thank you so much for posting Chef John.

Nacho Cheese Sauce

Reviewed: May 12, 2012
My son liked this sauce okay, but I'll keep searching for another nacho cheese sauce with a little more flavor. This is very good over broccoli and rice though.

Applesauce

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2012
This recipe was excellent and so very yummy! I used 6 fuji apples, 1/8 teaspoon each of cinnamon and cloves, 3/4 cup water. I let that that simmer for about 15 minutes before putting just 2 spoonfuls of sugar in and let it simmer for 10 more minutes. Then I transferred it to my food processer and pulsed it a dozen times or so. It was fantastic warm. I will try it tomorrow cold. I can't wait! Thank you for the excellent recipe. I will never buy applesauce again!

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2015
My son really likes this recipe. It's the only one we make at our house for alfredo. It freezes well. To reheat frozen portions, warm in a skillet with a bit of milk and it works really well. We like it better reheated than the first time around.

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2012
I think the recipe itself is great - especially if you use it in an oven. I tried to use this for the grill and had a hard time getting the very sticky dough transferred from my cookie sheet to the grill in a nice shape. This recipe didn't lend itself well to moving from the cookie sheet.

Whole Wheat Sweet Potato Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2012
These muffins are great! I substituted applesauce for oil and only used 1 of the 2 egg yolks and they turned out perfect. I made them into mini muffins so I can have a few and not a lot of guilt. **Revised rating to 4 stars from 5 because I think there's too much honey in the muffins. They are very sticky to eat and don't keep well. First time around though, they are great.

Peanut Butter Chip Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2011
These are great cookies! The bag of peanut butter chips I bought was just about 1-2/3 cups, so I cut down the recipe slightly and it still made 4 dozen nice-sized cookies. I'm guessing the recipe as written could make nearly 5 dozen. I made these with my 11-year-old son that is learning to cook and he thought they were amazing. Thank you!

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2015
These are a great! They are a little soggy when you skip the baking step, so if you freeze them like I do, grill them first and then freeze to reheat in the microwave. That really helps to firm them up. What a great way to get so many healthful foods that are so delicious together! Thanks for submitting this recipe.

I was really disappointed with this bread. Too rubbery and bland. I doubled the cinnamon, but it was still very bland.

Baked Sweet Potatoes

I really enjoyed this. It's a really nice change from the usual sugared sweet potato dishes. I have tried it with both oregano and rosemary. I prefer the oregano best. Thank you for the super recipe!

Cranberry Nut Bread II

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2013
This was totally awesome! I used 1 cup of whole wheat flour in place of 1 of the 2 cups of AP flour. I also used 1/2 cup zero calorie sweetner in place of 1/2 of the 1 cup white sugar. Instead of a loaf pan, placed the batter in mini muffin pans and made 48 mini muffins. After baking about 30 minutes, I placed cling wrap over them while they cooled. Thank you for the wonderful recipe!

This recipe is a great way to make cranberry sauce healthy. I've added pecans, crushed pineapple and sugar-free jello for a change and liked it really well.

Whipped Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2012
It was good - I put in too much orange juice though. A little orange juice goes a long way in this recipe. I used big marshmallows cut in half, and they didn't work well. It's best to use the mini marshmallows. Thank you for the recipe!
