Foolproof Rib Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2011
I keep seeing people attribute this to Paula Deen, but my grandma cooked her roasts like this, and my mom did as well (and since I am in my 50s now I know its been around a while). My grandma died before Paula Deen hit the airwaves, so when I see people who keep saying give credit where credit is due...should do just that. 2005? Seriously? This recipe has been around for generations!! This rib roast has NEVER failed to deliver. If yours turned out tough, you did something wrong or you got a bad piece of meat! I get up Christmas morning, take it out to let it reach room temp and we open presents. Start the oven, rub it down with spices (the roast not the oven LOL!), and in it goes. It cooks an hour while we play with our "stuff" and then I turn it off, and off we go to my parents. When we get back, I pull it out and cook everything else. Generally the potatoes go in the bottom of the pan in the drippings with onions and peppers, they roast and then I put the roast back in on top to finish it. Rolls? No problem, the roast is supposed to rest for 10 minutes anyways. Easiest Christmas dinner ever!!

World's Best Pasta Sauce!

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2011
I found this recipe when it was originally posted as world's best lasagna. No doubt it lives up to its name - this sauce is by far the best I have ever had and it receives rave reviews every time. I used it for all different pasta recipes, and it is worth every bit of effort and then some! You will NOT be disappointed!!

Praline Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2010
Thought I would get out of making these this year, but SOMEONE requested them. Not that I don't want to eat them all up or anything!! These are memorable, delicious, and set off the Thanksgiving feast so well. DO NOT use the picture as a guide, they are just beautiful and beyond delicious!! Nom nom nom as my daughter says. If they lasted long enough I would take a picture and post it - but who wants a picture of an empty, scraped clean dish??

Halloween Cupcakes

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2004
Just as easy as can be and VERY tasty too!! I also made a bundt cake from this recipe and it turned out excellent. Coupled with the colorful icing, it made a wonderful addition to our Halloween party. This could be used any time of year though, I think I will experiment with different colors of KoolAid - maybe make red, white, and blue ones for the 4th!!

Cedar Planked Salmon

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2008
This is so darn easy, and so darn good. My picky 17 year old daughter BEGS for me to make this again. The flavor is quite simply amazing. The first time we made it on a charcoal grill, and tonight we are making it on the gas grill - can't wait!!

Quick Sunshine Cake

Reviewed: May 9, 2007
I am NOT a fruity-cake type fan, but this is positively the BEST cake I have ever had. I have made it numerous times and it has received raves every time. I do add unsweetened orange kool-aid to the cake mix & to the frosting to give it an orange-y kick. It makes it quite beautiful, and picks up the orange flavor a bit more. Quite elegant!!
