About this Cook
I am 75 and live in Maine. I have been cooking since age 1- or 11. I have a Maine Coon named Zeus. My mother was German and I have lived in many parts of the world. I learned to cook many foreign dishes. Since I have found the joys of the Slow Cooker, I have modified many recipes to accommodate it.
My favorite things to cook
German, Mexican, Italian, Puerto Rican, Austrian, Island cooking, and French. Everyone loves my German Chocolate Whipped Cream Cake. Any seafood dish.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Blackberry Flummery and Cape Cod Blueberry Pie. Sauerbraten and Baked Creamed Finnin Hadie.
My cooking triumphs
My own version of German Chocolate Cake that I call German Chocolate Whipped Cream Cake. my version of Slow Cooker chicken breast and my blueberry pie.
My cooking tragedies
After 60 years of making all kinds of fudge and using a recipe I have used for about 20 years, when I made it two weeks ago, it did not harden.

Fantasio Bars
WadieS is right. I have been making these for more than 30 years. Walnuts work fine. Hazelnuts are excellent, also. The butterscotch is grand. Of course, I am a chocoholic so I prefer chocolate. I live in Senior Citizen housing and, although I am almost 80, I bake for many people here. I make these four or five times per year.

Carrot Gelatin Salad
I am 77 and have made this salad for years as my mother before. Lost the recipe and "voila" after 6 years I found it. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I also make my own dressing. Heavy cream, mustard, vinegar and sugar. I can not give you amounts as I do it to taste. It really makes the salad, though. I forgot, I also add finely chopped celery. I have an old fashioned hand grinder. Does the carrots great.

Famous Pork Chops
I have been cooking and baking for more than 60 yrs. With a couple of additions, this recipe is one of the best and tastiest I have cooked in a long time. I added a little crushed thyme and Bell's Poultry Seasoning to the cracker mix. I use butter crackers. I spray the topping with butter-flavored Pam or drizzle melted butter over both sides prior to cooking. I put a rack in the bottom of my pan, then place the boneless pork chops on it. I take off the foil for the last 6-8 minutes. Tender, juicy and crispy on the outside.
