Potato Skillet

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2014
Very very good! My family and I loved it. Like most others, I added onions and bell peppers too. The only recommendation is to make sure to use a non-stick pan because I decided to use my new stainless steel pan and everything stuck. I will definitely be making this again just in a better pan ;)

Cream Cheese Brownies I

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2013
Very good recipe. I went off of what other reviewers said and only used 2 eggs for a less cake-y brownie. I also used bakers chocolate instead of choco chips because it's what I had (3 squares = 1/3 cup chips). I melted the shortening and chocolate in the microwave. Once the shortening is melted, the chocolate should melt on its own after mixing it around a little. I used my mixer for the rest of the ingredients to make it smoother and I mixed the dry ingredients first before adding them to the mixture. I opted out the nuts because my kids aren't too find of almonds. I will make it again but I'm not sure if I'll add the almond extract again, not because it wasn't good but because it seems kind of an unnecessary taste if you don't add the almonds in the first place.

Mom's Applesauce Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2013
My 3 yr old doesn't like pancakes, waffles or any sweet breakfast items like that. But for the first time he actually ate his entire pancake and said how yummy it was! These were great, my family loved them. I used Bisquick mix and followed the directions to a tee. The only suggestion I would make is to add a little extra milk because the mix does tend to be a bit on the thick side with the suggested measurement. Otherwise they were fluffy, hearty and just the right amount of sweet. Definite must!

Tropical Grilled Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2013
Very good! I don't really eat pork but my hubby loves it, so if I cook it, I want to make sure I really make it count. This was so good, I even enjoyed it! I tried to follow the recipe to a tee but I'm not even going to pretend what a "cardamom pod" is. I did search my local grocery but I didn't even know where to look, produce?, spices?... I did find a tiny bottle of ground cardamom for $12.99!!! Yeah, I substituted. I used a sprinkle of ginger and a few sprinkles of nutmeg as suggested on a Google search. I also don't know if there's much of a difference with unsweetened applesauce and no sugar added but the only kind I had was no sugar added which was still worked fine. I do think the amount of sauce is a bit excessive though, I had a lot left over which I froze for next time.

Marilyn's Green Beans Italiano

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2013
I loved it! My family however...not so much. They are anti-green when it comes to veggies, broccoli, green beans, peas. I can dress them up in chocolate and they'll still have a hard time eating them. I thought they were delicious and super tasty. I did omit to the parsley though because I didn't have any but it was still very good.

Cheesy Hash Browns

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2013
This was super yummy! Everyone loved it, I'll definitely make this again. Maybe I'll add some ham or crumbled bacon next time for an extra treat. The only thing I did different was cut down on the amount, I felt like 2 pounds of shredded potatoes was excessive. I was going to reduce it to half but that was still an entire 1 pound bag and an 8 ounce tub of sour cream! I'm not some health nut or anything, I totally believe in enjoying food as long as it's in moderation. I just felt like it was too much food for 4 people so I made 1/4 of it and it was just enough for a hearty serving for each of us.

Marinated Flat Iron Steak

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2013
It was only ok. My family ate it without saying anything so I assume they liked it but as for me, I thought it was a bit bland. It was just missing something, salt? a spice? extra ingredient? I'm not quite sure what but SOMETHING. I'm not much of a beef eater but I just felt like it needed more flavor.

Fresh Southern Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2013
Loved it! It was delicious, even my hubby that's not really a cobbler person liked it. I only had 6 peaches so thats all I used but I still followed the directions to a tee and it was great. Definitely will make again :)

Crunchy Lettuce

Reviewed: May 9, 2013
There's mixed reviews in my household. My two little ones weren't too impressed especially with the dressing and left some behind. My older son loved it but he likes anything that has bacon in it. My husband was so so on it and wouldn't really care if I made it again or not. As for my self, I liked it but I could probably do without the bacon (I'm probably the only person on earth that doesn't love bacon). I did everything as the recipe ask except for the dressing. I made the dressing with extra virgin olive oil just because the thought of using vegetable oil for salad dressing really grossed me out. Probably won't be making this again.

Beer Batter Fish Made Great

Reviewed: May 9, 2013
The batter was very tasty but for some reason my fish didn't come out very crispy and rather soggy. I kept checking the temp of the oil to make sure it was hot enough and also used a paper bag to drain instead of paper towels but they still were kinda soft. I even watched the video for this recipe to make sure I followed it step by step. The batter was very good though, I just wish it would of been crispier.

Best Baked French Fries

Reviewed: May 9, 2013
They weren't bad. I would of never thought to put sugar on the potatoes to drain the moisture and not have a sweet taste on them. All in all they were good but not great. If I make these again I'll probably play around with the ingredients but definitely use the sugar method again.

Sopapilla Cheesecake Pie

Reviewed: May 9, 2013
Quite possibly one of the best deserts I've made by far! You probably gain a pound just by looking at it but it was delicious and so easy to make. Definitely will make again.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

I cut the recipe in half. They weren't bad and my kids liked them but I've made better from other recipes. I don't think I'll make these again :(

Spicy Shredded Beef

Reviewed: May 6, 2013
It was good but not great. It was definitely NOT spicy at all I actually felt like the tomatoes made it a little sweet. The tomato taste was a little overwhelming and it needed a little "something", don't know what but something. I might try it again but I'll make some adjustments next time. But overall not bad and my kids liked it.

Stuffed Potatoes

Reviewed: May 6, 2013
Super yummy! I also added bacon bits, cheddar cheese and chives to the sour cream mixture and it came out so good. I rubbed the potatoes with a little olive oil and kosher salt to make the skin a little toastier. I found it easier to cut the potatoes in half and then refill them instead of trying to scoop it out from the top. Everybody loved them and I will make them again.

Best Baked Chicken

Reviewed: May 6, 2013
This recipe is a keeper! It was very tasty and moist inside. I didn't have stuffing mix so I just mixed some Italian bread crumbs and panko together. I will definitely be making this again. The only thing I think I'll do different next time is maybe use less garlic salt or maybe use garlic powder instead because it was a little bit on the salty side. Other then that it was delish!

Meatball Nirvana

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2013
The whole family loved them!I used them in spagetti and sauce. I also used ground turkey instead (since we're trying to eat healthier)and took another reviewer's advice to substitute the skim milk for an egg. I also skipped on the bread crumbs (didn't have any on hand)but they still came out delicious. Definitely keeping this recipe for future meals!

It was o.k but it came out kind of pasty which I really didn't like. Otherwise it had good flavor.

Spicy Honey-Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2012
Very good! My family loved it, especially my husband. I took someone else's advice though and used it on boneless chicken breast and made the sauce ahead and then poured it on before it cooked. I've made it twice already.

Spicy Garlic Lime Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2012
Very Tasty! I will definitely make again. I followed the recipe exact except for the end. Instead of sprinkling with the garlic powder and adding the lime, I mixed it together first and then poured over the chicken.
