Sausage Pasta

Reviewed: May 21, 2011
Very good! Used a mixture of Serra's sausage (local brand) and ShadyBrook Farms Hot Italian Turkey Sausage. Used lots of fresh spinach, added mushrooms and used fresh tomatoes instead of canned. Excellent, simple, reheated well. Would make again.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2011
Ok so I did modify slightly, but it was DELICIOUS!!! - used a smaller roast (about 3 lbs since that was what I had), used 1/2 cup red wine and the rest water, kept the amount of soup as described in recipe. Salted and peppered the roast and seared in olive oil prior to the slow cooker. Added one small can mushrooms, then once closer to ending cooking time (last 1-2 hours) added 2 chopped leeks, 3 carrots and 2 stalks celery. Also added some seasoning to the broth. Cooked up very nicely - would definitely make again.

Mediterranean Made Rights (Loose Meat Sandwiches)

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2011
Excellent recipe - used grass fed lamb and the recipe ingredients as described, but increased the herbs used by 50% (though that may be that a lot of our herbs and spices are several years old, thus not as pungent as especially fresh ones). We loved it. A great use of ground lamb. We did not make the dressing but used a commercially marketed tzaziki instead and served on naan with the tzaziki.

Used 1/3 less fat cream cheese, otherwise followed recipe as described, but and added a little over a tablespoon of good bourbon and a little more sugar to offset the additional liquid from the bourbon- FANTASTIC!!!!

Roast Salmon With Balsamic Vinegar

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2010
Not flavorful enough for us... too bland - even though it smelled good at the time of marinating.

Jerre's Black Bean and Pork Tenderloin Slow Cooker Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
Added beer (porter) instead of chicken stock, and omitted red bell pepper (didn't have any). Added 1 can tomato paste. Used a pork tenderloin that was preseasoned, and added some chipotle in adobo (we like spicy chili), as well as some Mrs Dash Table variety. Was delicious!!! Keeper recipe - neither my fiance or myself is big on pork but this is a keeper!

Crispy Orange Roughy

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
Easy and quick to prepare. Good flavor and texture. I added some Mrs Dash seasoning as well. I would make this dish again. I did make it with Orange Roughy, but I imagine it would serve well on other types of white fish as well.

Easy Lasagna III

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2008
Used this recipe as a base with lots of changes - many noted by previous reviewers. Substituted ricotta for cottage cheese, but also added about 1/2 a cup of light cream cheese. Mixed cumin, salt, pepper, basil, oregano and parsley into the cheese mixture. Used a combination of sausage and hamburger. Added onions and green and red peppers with garlic pasta sauce, a large can of chopped tomatoes, a can of tomato paste, chopped garlic, fresh basil, oregano, cumin, salt, pepper, and parsley. Layered a thin meat/tomato layer before the first noodle layer. Then added cheese mixture, thick meat/tomato layer, added shredded mozzarella, asiago and parmesan cheese, then another noodle layer, cheese layer, meat layer and more shredded cheese. It came out great - but due to all the changes, I just gave it 4 stars (it's a lot of modifications). Served with green salad and fresh bread. Excellent meal.

Deluxe Turkey Club Pizza

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2007
Excellent recipe - although we made several alterations. Instead of mayonnaise and lemon juice - substituted some alfredo sauce. Used a blend of cheeses. Added chopped turkey pepperoni in addition to the leftover turkey. Used a Boboli crust. Followed Boboli crust cooking directions. IT WAS EXCELLENT. Fantastic way to use a bit of leftover turkey.

Fudgy Chocolate Fondue

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2007
This fondue is quick, easy and has garnered much favor everywhere I have served it. I do choose to use higher end cocoa - Hershey's Special Dark and greatly enjoy multiply dippers, especially fruit - pineapple is outstanding! So if you're looking for an easy and impressive recipe, go ahead and try it - the only thing I would say about it otherwise is that it can seem a bit runny, - it's not a thick fondue- but flavor is out of the ballpark, thus my rating. Be careful not to put it over top of too hot of Sterno fuel, as then it tends to scorch the bottom! Happy munching!

Mediterranean Potato Salad

Reviewed: May 6, 2006
This recipe has received rave reviews every time I make it. I've made it about 6 times now, and it always comes out great. I like to use Kraft's Light Done Right Italian in it, and can tweak the amount of feta cheese depending on what I have. I use reduced fat feta cheese to lighten it up a bit more. No-one ever guesses it is a "light" version, and it's down-right addictive. If the ingredients sound good to you, definitely try this one! It's a keeper for me!

Aussie Lime Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2003
Excellent!!!! I made this recipe twice in two weeks, and everyone loves it. However, one suggestion - I thought the baking soda flavor came through too strongly using the recipe, so I halved it in the second pie and that was perfect. Also I never did get the "foamy" result of whipping/stirring the baking soda with the other ingredients listed. Works well with either lemon or lime zest. I think the flavor is best with some whipped topping (Cool Whip) on top. Try it, the crust is excellent and the overall result is addicting. :)

Herbed Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2003
Unfortunately this recipe turned out disastrously for me. I followed the directions, but apparently this is designed for thick pork chops. I had thinner ones and ran into some real problems. Although I left the heat on medium the entire cooking time, the liqueur scorched on the bottom of the pan and the whole thing was not edible. So make sure to try this with thick chops or be VERY careful!

Aunty Pasto's Seafood Lasagna

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2002
I cooked this recipe at the suggestion of my boyfriend, who absolutely adored it. I did use several lowfat products, and could not tell at all. Sauce thickened upon standing overnight in the fridge, but was a little runny at first. Great combination of flavors - will cook again! Prep time, as mentioned by other reviewers was much longer than stated, but end result was worth it.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2002
Absolutely delicious! I substituted butter flavored crisco for the butter, and used 1 3/4 cups of chocolate chunks, as well as regular rolled oats. Definitely a keeper! Also watch the time - 9-10 minutes did it for mine.

Coconut Oatmeal Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2002
Excellent recipe. Great flavor. I substituted Butter Flavored Crisco for the butter due to previous reviews regarding them being too crumbly. Also used one cup of coconut and a full bag of the chips... about 2 cups. Definitely a keeper.
