In the South, especially in some parts more than others, New Year’s Day is set aside for eating the more traditional meal than elaborating on any new recipes.  Black-eyed Peas, cabbage, and Hog Jowls, Fried Crispy golden brown, served with Cornbread is sure to bring luck and fortune your way… MORE

About this Cook
I have been cooking since i was 12 years old, got my first job in a restaurant when I was 14. I was trained by a professional Cook, also my Mother and Grandmother who had deep roots in the country style as well as the Pennsylvania Dutch Cooking.
My favorite things to cook
All though I can cook almost anything, my favorite thing to cook is breads. I have making homemade breads, rolls and baked goods since I was 18 and I am now 50!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Almost all of my Family Recipes center around Country Cooking, with a Dutch flare, or style. My family all comes from the deep country where you cooked what you raised.
My cooking triumphs
I once prepared and served a Banquet for President Bill Clinton when he was Governor of Arkansas. Multiple Blue Ribbons at the Arkansas State Fair as well as the Arkansas-Oklahoma State Fair.
My cooking tragedies
Once cooked a Standing Rib Roast that was so tough you needed a Skill Saw to slice it and it was already on the table.

Ukrainian Dill and Garlic Pickles
I made several jars of these pickles this summer while I was canning pickles with our traditional Recipe. I threw our old one out. These are the best tasting home-canned pickles I have ever eaten. Used dill paste instead of the Sprigs and added chopped Garlic for the cloves--They turned out wonderful! the best mix of vinegar, salt and water I have found yet! Thank You for sharing, will be adding to my summertime canning routine.

Spicy Pickled Okra
This is the best recipe for pickled okra I have ever tried, they turned out perfectly. My mother ate the first jar we opened almost completely by herself! Thanks for sharing such a great recipe.

Mexican Cream Cheese Rollups
I also changed the recipe. Left out the green Olives, added Sour Cream instead of Mayo. added finely shredded cheddar and finely chopped green Onions before rolling them up. Have also made this dish and substituted Sliced Boiled Ham for the Tortilla; were a great hit at several parties.
