Bacon Wrapped Smokies

I have made these several times & they ALWAYS dissappear! I pre-cook the bacon in the micro till soft before wrapping & putting them in the oven. I also line a baking sheet with foil, put the doggies on a baking rack on the foil, & then sprinkle the brown sugar on. This prevents a nasty clean up, and the sugar & bacon grease meld. I put the doggies in a crock & pour the grease/sugar mix over them, sprinkle more brown sugar on them, stir, and put the lid on the crock. It really makes a great sauce on them!! yum yum yum hubby & I LOVE these!!

Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie

this is my recipe that I have been making for at least 15 years for Thanksgiving & Christmas...I have changed it slightly to make it the way we really love. 3/4c sugar instead of of 1c, 2 tbsp bourbon instead of 1/4c and 1/2c choc chips instead of 6 oz. Make it in a DEEP pie dish, as this makes a lot of filling!! Thanksgiving isn't Thanksgiving for me without this pie.

Beverage Cubes

I have done this for years - I make lemonade cubes for my iced tea, and it is perfect! Limeaide cubes are great for lemonade, and strawberry cool aide cubes for lemonaide for those of you who like strawberry lemonaide - my sweetie loves them!!

Homemade Marshmallows I

the directions didn't make sense to me initally - I have always have used hot water to activate the gelatin before, so I halved the recipe, cooked the simple syrup over medium instead of low, and poured that over the gelatin/water combination. Before I added the hot syrup, I added 1/2 teaspoon orange extract & some orange food color to the gelatin/water mix. It whipped up beautifully, and I let it set in the refrigerator. They were great! I will make these in many flavors and dip them in chocolate for company.

Very Easy Crab Dip

I LOVE THIS!!! I made it for a party, my guests could not get enough & asked for the recipe - and at the next party, the hostess made it. It is so simple & yummy - sometimes I grate a little onion for an added kick.

Slow Cooker Cranberry Roast

This was OK, nothing fabulous. I liked the gravy, but it was a little sweet for meat. I think I would like the gravy on noodles or potatoes, but not really for meat. Husband didn't want to try it at first, but once he did he really liked it. I'd make it again for him, but not for me. (and I love cranberries! go figure....)Made it again, this time I really liked it. I don't know what changed, but I like it a lot & hubby asks for it frequently & I am happy to make it now.

Chocolate Wafer Roll

I make this with 2 cups of fresh real whipped cream and the whole box of nabisco famous chocolate wafers. It tastes nothing like an oreo to me - I don't like oreos and I love this. It has to sit in the fridge overnight or it doesn't work! I love this and get frequent requests for it.

Blue Cranberry Sauce

I made this for my then-boyfriend (now fiancee) as part of the first meal I ever cooked him. I made it with 1 cup frozen blueberries and 1 cup frozen raspberries. It was incredible!! (I served it with roast chicken, corn, mashed potatoes with croissants. Dessert was vanilla cake with truffle frosting.) I made it again a few weeks later for my mom. I added a small can of mandarin oranges for my mom. She loved it!! Even my brother who is a cran-in-a-can guy liked this! (I think this was part of the reason why my fiancee proposed - thank you Connie!!)

Holiday ONLY Mashed Potatoes

this is my standard mashed potatoes. Heat the cream & melt the the butter first. Sprinkle a small of salt on the potatoes before using the electric mixer.

Ooey-Gooey Cinnamon Buns

these are better than the clone of a cinnabon - they're softer and squishier. They don't become rock hard after a day after baking. I love these and have gotten requests for the recipe. That to me says it all. I loved these and so did my family. I don't use the bread machine method, I use the kitchen aide mixer with the dough hook. No work!

Caramel Snack Mix

wow!! doubled the recipe, which made a massive amount. Instead of the almonds I used peanuts and pecans. I didn't have enough light corn syrup, and used half dark, half light. I also used chex & cinnamon life cereal, and it was awesome, people kept asking for the recipe. Thank you!!! :)

Clone of a Cinnabon

Very very good. I made these Saturday night and baked them Sunday morning. I let them rise for an hour and then spread them & rolled them. They seemed small in the pan - there was at least an inch between rolls. By Sunday there was very little space between them, and they baked beautifully. There was too much frosting for me, but the frosting was great. I could see making these for a holiday morning...

English Pie Crusts

I used half lard & half butter - it came out flaky, tender and yummy. It was a little difficult to work with, but I think that is my peoblem with pie crust in general, and not necessarily the recipe. I would definately make it again!!!

Red-Skinned Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Sad that this is listed under "low carb:side dishes" because potatoes are not low carb. I was thinking there would be a secret replacement ingredient that would replace the potatoes to make it seem potato-ish but be low carb. Nope. So, as fabulous as this sounds, it won't be going on my table.

Special Deviled Eggs

I'm an accomplished cook. Some would describe me as a gourmet cook. However, I don't eat eggs except sunny side up and eggs benedict (poached.) Hence, I don't cook hard boiled eggs. So I went exactly as the recipe stated. After the eggs cooled, I went to peel them and found I had a perfectly POACHED egg. So I boiled my eggs again for 6 minutes, hoping that would be sufficent. I have found that depending on how long the egg has been cooked, the yolk will pop right out. Or it will need to be scraped out. I have to admit, I find it amusing that I had a bit of a difficult time with this! Anyhow, I made the eggs, and within 20 minutes they were gone. I didn't try them, but I guess that if they were gone that quickly, they were a success!
