Grandmother's Famous Cranberry Bread
Made this a couple days ago for Christmas brunch and everyone raved about it. I used fresh oj (took about 5 oranges). I followed the suggestion to blend the sugar and softened butter together, then added the egg and blended again, then added the OJ and zest. I increased the zest to 1 tablespoon because I love the flavor. I decreased the raisins to about 3/4 cup but kept the cranberries at a cup and a half. I baked in a glass 9x5x3 and the bread came out perfectly. It was not dry or crumbly and I felt it had a nice cranberry flavor. My dad said it was the best he'd had (not that he's biased or anything). I'm saving this and will make it again.

Mmm-Mmm Better Brownies
I was skeptical because I've made brownies from a box all my life (thank you Betty Crocker!) but I didn't have a box mix and I needed a quick dessert. Cookies just weren't in the picture. So I decided to try this recipe. Followed it for the most part but added about a teaspoon or so of finely ground coffee beans and about a quarter cup of Ghiradelli 60% coco chocolate chips. Buttered the pan (8x8 glass pan), poured the batter in, and baked for about 27 minutes - still a little gooey in the middle, but pretty set up. They look puffy when you first take them out of the oven, but then they settle to a pretty flat brownie - Not super cakey and not overly fudgy (my husband interprets that as undercooked). I cut the pan into 12 brownies and my husband went back for seconds....twice. Thus, I know this is a hit. I thought they were plenty sweet and plenty chocolaty, but I suppose the chocolate chips might have helped that. I will definitely make this again.
