About this Cook
I am a wife to a big strong man who loves delicious food. It is his love language. When he comes in the door and the stove is steaming with delightful aromas, the oven is baking soft fluffy breads and rolls, oh yes it is my mans love language when I cook for him. I have 3 lovely children, I hope someday they too will appreciate the fine art of family time around a table. But as of yet, table time is still largely comprised of comments such as "eat with your mouth closed" "don't wave your spoon around you" "take a bite" "push your water back" :) but already we enjoy the warm safe connections at our gentle loving table.
My favorite things to cook
I am actually not very fond of cooking at all. I would much rather have my hands in the dirt outside, but really one must make bloom what one has been given and so I bloom in the chowders and soups, cinnamon rolls and chicken and dumplings, breads, pasta, and puddings, pies and cakes and rolls. I cook it all.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother would get up quite early on saturday mornings, when we would be home from school and commence making huge batches of the fluffiest, softest, donuts you could possibly imagine. Now I get to do that for my own children.
My cooking triumphs
I consider it a triumph every single time I make a dish that is delicious. I do not enjoy cooking that much but superisingly I am quite good at it and rarely make such a dutch of a dish that it can not be saved.
My cooking tragedies
Most of my cooking tragedies center around chicken. While unknowingly pregnant with my third child, I cooked chicken for an overnight guest. To my horror the chicken was not cooked all the way through, I can still hardly relay the story without gagging. I do not believe that I have cooked raw chicken since then. Over 2 years.

Pop's Dill Pickles
I am absolutely delighted with this recipe. It is going to be printed and added to my permanent collection of recipes. I was not able to find pickling spice so I made my own from another recipe on here. I made them exactly like the recipe, and processed them basically the same. My husband and kids also love them. Def the best garlic Dill pickles ever. (Now try them fried, they are AMAZING) :)

Cinnamon Belgian Waffles
I made these waffles this morning for our guests, I doubled the recipe and added 1 tsp of cinnamon. I did not have buttermilk so I added 1 Tablespoon, vinegar to 2 cups of milk, added an extra cup of flour, and mixed the baking soda in with the wet ingredients. They were absolutely delicious!

Bean Rarebit
Lord have mercy! This is GOOD! I made it exactly like the recipe except I made twice the amount and used a mixture of pinto beans, navy beans and black beans. I tasted it to make sure its actually good, and finally stopped myself after the fifth big bite. This is comfort food and so tasty! We shall have it over hot biscuits.
