I've now done this recipe twice - first time (per the recipe) was good...tho..(for my taste) the potatoes were a bit hard and bland. I just made them again, tho..this time I followed a few other reviewers suggestions and parboiled the potatoes in salt water - chopped and sauteed the onions - layered potatoes, sauteed onions, crushed bacon (leftover from breakfast) and cheese sauce. I also added a couple dashes of crushed dried green tomatoes and basil in the cheese sauce - as well as additional season salt on the potatoes (per my taste) Either way...depending on your own taste...this is a great recipe...shape it as you please...works every which way !!
