Sugar Coated Pecans

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2012
I made these last night. I did make a couple of changes, 1t. water and 2t. vanilla added to the egg white, 1/2c. white sugar, and 1/2c brown sugar, 1t. roasted cinnamon, and 1/2t. sea salt. I did bake them about 20 minutes longer, they seemed too soft at the hour. THESE ARE AMAZING! I am getting ready to order pecans in bulk, (rather expensive buying just those small bags at the grocery) so that I can back multiple batches for the holidays to give away to friends! If you like pecans, you will LOVE this!

Absolutely Fabulous Greek/House Dressing

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2008
Oh my goodness, this is really delicious. I scaled it down, I used equal amounts of oil and vinegar, and used fresh pressed garlic instead of powdered. The only thing I can say, is next time I may reduce the black pepper by maybe a third. Just felt it was a tiny bit too much. I will be passing this great recipe on to all my friends!

Chris' Bay Area Burger

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2008
Delicious! These are just great, the oly thing I added, was a little onion powder to the meat mixture. I eat Burgers, bread and condiment FREE, so I am always looking for a good flavorful recipe, I topped these with a little shredded Mozzarella, sliced roma tomato, and slices of onion. Absolutely YUMMY! Will use this recipe again and again.

Salmon Cakes II

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2008
these are just wonderful. I have been making salmon patties for years, and I use Parm. cheese instead of cheddar, only half an onion (sometimes onion powder) and fresh parsley....Also I don't coat them with flour, I don't find it necessary, they hold together just fine. I also use red pepper flake instead of hot sauce. Same basic ingredients, just different flavors. Now I am hungry for these, have to make them this weekend. :)

Vodka Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2008
This is a really good sauce to play with, and add or take away what you like. I used Fire roasted diced tomato and garlic. (new from Hunts) reduced the vodka to 1/2 c. did NOT add water, and fresh grated parm. Also, I served it over 3 cheese tortellini. OMG! Delicious.

Saltine Toffee Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2007
These are really good. VERY RICH! I notice, that the middle section of my toffee is a little "grainy". I am sure that is something I did, and nothing at all to do with the recipe, and I followed the time EXACTLY. BUT we are all eating them anyway, they are yummy! I did use milk chocolate chips, Will definately make these again.

Sylvia's Ribs

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2007
WOW DELICIOUS! I added 3/4 cup of honey, and only about half of the ketchup. I also added 3 bay leaves, sliced onion, and chopped garlic, to my rib water while boiling. I actually lost 2 of the bones off the ends trying to get them out of the pot, they were so tender! I was going to serve these with baked sweet potatos, but my kids like brown sugar on those, and there is plenty of sweetness in the rib sauce, so went with baked potato, with sour cream, and steamed broccoli with cheese sauce. In my opinion, this turned out like resaurant quality ribs. Truely delicious! THANK YOU SYLVIA, for giving me a place to start or my own sauce. As a fan of "sweet baby rays" sauce for a LONG time, I have to say...sorry ray..I can handle that sauce myself now. ;)

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2007
This is so simple, and delicious! I used half & half instead of milk, and some rosemary. I think next time I may add some diced potato. I put it together a little different, but used the same veggies. Thanks so much for a wonderful recipe. I have now made this twice, the first time we had more people eating, and had nothing left. This time, I was just serving 2, so we had leftovers, and I must say, this reheats beautifully, and I actually think it tastes better the next day! This is just a wonderful fall/winter recipe. Ok, I am adding to this review.....I made this filling the other night, thickened it up a little more, and served it over toast! It was just DELICIOUS......kinda chicken ala king-ish. I will DEFINATELY be making that way a lot! I almost think I like it BETTER!

Water Chestnuts Wrapped in Bacon

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2007
MY MOM HAS MADE THESE SINCE I WAS A KID. THE ONLY THING IS, WE ALWAYS USE BBQ SAUCE, NOT SOY SAUCE. THEY GO FASTER THAN YOU CAN GET THEM ON A PLATE.

Party Italian Wedding Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2003
This was a hit, what a great way to get a 5 year old to eat spinach, she loved it. And my husband said, "great way to get a 34 year old to eat his spinach too". Like some of the other folks, I adjusted a bit, used 1 large onion instead of 2, and that was PLENTY, used 1/2 sausage, and 1/2 ground beef for my meatballs, plus ITALIAN bread crumbs. I also baked my meatballs in the oven until browned before adding to soup. I did use the acini di pepe, which I boiled seperately, then added to stockpot. Also, I used 12 cups of chicken stock, you really need it once you add all of those lovely veggies and stuff. Once again, it was delicious, and thank the original maker for giving me a great base to play around with a bit, we will DEFINATELY be making this again. ALSO, this is a very FILLING soup, a small salad and some crusty bread, and you have a great meal.
