About this Cook
I AM A 39 YEAR OLD MOTHER OF 3. I AM ADDICTED TO 3 THINGS, COOKING SCRAPBOOKING, AND MAYBE A LITTLE EBAY! (DON"T TELL) I HAVE BEEN WITH MY HUSBAND 22 YEARS, AND MARRIED FOR 20 YEARS.I LOVE LOVE LOVE COOKBOOKS. MY AUNT AND I GO OVER THEM FOR HOURS, EVEN IF WE AREN'T COOKING ANYTHING!!! I JUST LOVE TO LOOK AT RECIPES, SEE IF THERE IS ANYTHING THAT LOOKS OR SOUNDS GOOD, OR ANYTHING THAT I THINK I MIGHT BE ABLE TO CHANGE A LITTLE BIT TO SUIT MY FAMILY.
My favorite things to cook
I LOVE TO BAKE, IT ISN'T ACTUALLY WHAT I DO BEST, BUT I LOVE IT. I GUESS COMFORT FOODS ARE MY FAVORITE. GOURMET DISHES SOUND GOOD, BUT THERE IS NOTHING LIKE GOOD OLD FASHIONED DOWN HOME COOKING. (EVEN THOUGH I HAVE GROWN UP IN THE CITY MY WHOLE LIFE)
My favorite family cooking traditions
MY FAVORITE, IS GOING TO MY AUNTS HOUSE THE NIGHT BEFORE THANKSGIVING, AND PREPARING FOR THE NEXT DAYS BIG DINNER FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY. ALSO A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER, WE GATHER AT MY AUNTS HOUSE TO MAKE HOLIDAY COOKIES. EVEN THOUGH I LIVE IN THE CITY, MY AUNT LIVES IN A BEAUTIFUL FARM HOUSE, WITH A HUGE KITCHEN....A FIREPLACE IN THE BACK ROOM, AND A NICE CUP OF TEA.
My cooking triumphs
I WOULD HAVE TO SAY MY BIGGEST TRIUMPH WOULD BE MY VERSION OF POLLO ROSA MARIA, LIKE THEY HAVE AT CARRABAS. IT WAS WONDERFUL. RAVE REVIEWS FROM THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS. ALSO A GREEN PEPPER, BROWN RICE AND CHICKN BREAST DISH, THAT MADE WOMEN AT A SCRAPBOOK DINNER WHO OPENLY HATE PEPPERS, TAKE SECONDS! AND A WONDERFUL ITALIAN WEDDING SOUP, THAT THE WHOLE FAMILY LOVES.
My cooking tragedies
I HAVE ONLY EVER HAD ONE DISH THAT I THOUGHT WAS HIDEOUS, AND THREW IT AWAY. I WAS TRYING TO MAKE A " MEXICAN LASAGNA" THE SAUCE I CHOSE, WAS JUST TERRIBLE, IT WAS OUT OF THE AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD STORE, AND GOOD LORD IT WAS HORRIBLE. OF COURSE I HAVE BURNED MY SHARE OF COOKIES IN MY LIFE, AND OVERBAKED MY BROWNIES WHILE I WAS MULTI-TASKING! gOOD OR BAD, I LOVE TO FIND NEW RECIPES, AND TRY THEM OUT, ESPECIALLY IN THE FALL AND WINTER, SO I WILL BE ONLINE ALOT IN THE COMING MONTHS. :)

Sugar Coated Pecans
I made these last night. I did make a couple of changes, 1t. water and 2t. vanilla added to the egg white, 1/2c. white sugar, and 1/2c brown sugar, 1t. roasted cinnamon, and 1/2t. sea salt. I did bake them about 20 minutes longer, they seemed too soft at the hour. THESE ARE AMAZING! I am getting ready to order pecans in bulk, (rather expensive buying just those small bags at the grocery) so that I can back multiple batches for the holidays to give away to friends! If you like pecans, you will LOVE this!

Absolutely Fabulous Greek/House Dressing
Oh my goodness, this is really delicious. I scaled it down, I used equal amounts of oil and vinegar, and used fresh pressed garlic instead of powdered. The only thing I can say, is next time I may reduce the black pepper by maybe a third. Just felt it was a tiny bit too much. I will be passing this great recipe on to all my friends!

Chris' Bay Area Burger
Delicious! These are just great, the oly thing I added, was a little onion powder to the meat mixture. I eat Burgers, bread and condiment FREE, so I am always looking for a good flavorful recipe, I topped these with a little shredded Mozzarella, sliced roma tomato, and slices of onion. Absolutely YUMMY! Will use this recipe again and again.
