About this Cook
Silly facts about me: •I love talking on the phone •I have never been on the Jerry Springer show; nor has any of my family (Thank you, Jesus!) •I am a smartass •I love to read •I always put the cap back on the toothpaste •I love the rain (& the cold) •I was nicknamed Scarlett because I can be spoiled, flirtatious, charming (manipulative), demanding & yes, at times a tad bitchy •I am very pro choice •I know that whipped cream goes on more than ice cream sundaes •I'm so sweet I'll give you a toothache •I'm drug & alcohol free •So far, I've managed to "charm" my way out of jury duty, but my day is coming very soon. •I share all my food with my dog •I wish I could remember my dreams •I secretly think I love my son more than other Moms love their kids •Judgmental Christians infuriate me  •I love people who make me laugh
My favorite things to cook
Quick & easy casseroles that taste like I slaved over the stove for hours :-) I also like to make similar Crock Pot recipes. I enjoy making good appetizers &/or desserts to take when I go places (or when I entertain).
My favorite family cooking traditions
Had Thanksgiving for the 1st time at my house this year. Since I am the dest child & grandchild & my parents are young, I kind of thought Thanksgiving would go from my Grandmother to my Mom to my son's wife. No such luck. LOL
My cooking triumphs
I pick recipes well & normally receive compliments on the things I make/bring. I search long & hard for uncomplicated recipes don't have a zillion ingredients yet are still impressive.
My cooking tragedies
During my 1st Thanksgiving: my turkey was a little bit overcooked, my Mother-in-law neglected to tell me a few important things about the (completely from scratch) stuffing recipe & my husband cut his finger slicing the turkey. While not really tradedies & I covered them well (Iay have to have Thanksgiving again next year as it is), they seemed a bit tragic at the time.

Cranberry Dip
Cant believe the people who go on about remembering the reason for the season and then proceed to trash someone for "not reading a recipe" or "not measuring" or having common sense, etc. How hypocritical... Thanks for the recipe & the tips. Worked great with the can of whole cranberry sauce.

Southern Style Thanksgiving Green Beans
I make these with Pole beans. Unfortunately, they are only available part of the year. I always make them for the holidays. They are great, sometimes at Thanksgiving if I don't shop early I have to go to a few stores to find them . I use chicken broth instead of water and I leave out the vinegar. The ham hock is kinda gross, but its a must for great flavor. This recipe has been on my family's table for as long as I can remember.
