About this Cook
I am a college student with my own kitchen (finally!) and ready to hone my cooking skills! Cooking is becoming a hobby I love and one that will always be a part of my life. It's great to have a passion that is so easy to share with family and friends! Pretty soon I will be the one sending care packages home to mom! :D
My favorite things to cook
Lately I am in love with soup! There is nothing like coming home from a chilled fall day and warming up with so many delicious possibilities.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom makes amazing eggplant parmesan. It is my go-to recipe for special dinners with friends and my birthday meal of choice!
My cooking triumphs
I feel like I have come so far so fast! Our stove didn't work when I was a child so I rarely was able to get creative in the kitchen. I've made so many things I never imagined I could: bread, soup, homemade tortillas and so much more!
My cooking tragedies
I had a box of grape nuts that were about to expire (who makes it through that stuff anyway?) so I decided to get creative and bake it into something. I set my mind on cookies. I wanted them to be healthy so I used apple sauce to hold them together.... They are now known to friends as my infamous "rubber cookies."

Soft Oatmeal Cookies
These are delicious frozen. I know it sounds weird but they make an excellent frozen treat (plus they last longer... not that you'll need them to). I made them once the normal way (Yum!). And once using splenda for the white sugar and apple sauce for half the butter (guiltless yum!). This is a great recipe!

Salsa II
This was AMAZING! I cut the recipe down to third and only used a whole red onion to cut the onion portion. It still made plenty! I will be making this again!
