Homemade Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2015
I can't believe that it is this easy to make tortillas, even without a tortilla press! The dough is so easy to work with! I did not have any problems rolling the dough out paper-thin using only a rolling pin and without additional dusting of flour. I also love that the recipe calls for very little fat. I used palm oil & coconut oil blend instead of lard and the recipe still worked! This recipe is excellent and makes delicious, soft and tender tortillas which are definitely much better than those bought at the store. Because they are quite easy to make, I will no longer purchase commercial tortillas! :-)

Potato Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2014
I made this for the first time tonight and my family devoured it! The rolls came out very light, tender and fluffy! I made some changes: to dissolve the yeast, I added 1/2 teaspoon of raw honey to 1/4 cup warm water from the water that I used to boil the potatoes. I also substituted butter for the shortening. I really like this recipe and I will continue to make it again since my son loves the rolls very much!

Classico® Vegetable Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2014
This dish is delicious! I added chopped chicken breast, which I cooked with the onions prior to adding the zucchini and mushrooms. I also added chopped green bell peppers. Lastly, I used organic tomato basil pasta sauce instead of the four cheese. It actually turned out well, even with my changes. My husband and son both liked it dish.

Easy Garlic and Rosemary Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2014
This was delicious! It is quick and easy to make - perfect for those days when I get home late from work. To keep the chicken from drying out, I drizzled a bit of olive oil on top prior to sprinkling with the garlic, rosemary, freshly squeezed lemon juice, salt and pepper. Since many of the reviewers mentioned that the portion of rosemary indicated in the recipe is too excessive, I used only 1 tablespoon of minced fresh rosemary from my rosemary plant. The house was quite fragrant while dinner was cooking! My husband and son both liked it, so this is a recipe that I will definitely keep in my repertoire.

Caramel Apple Cranberry Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2014
I made this pie for dessert tonight, with a couple of changes. I decreased the amount of butter to 6 tablespoons and used 1 1/2 cups of fresh cranberries. Because I did not use dried cranberries, I did not introduce additional source of sugar to the filling, and the sweetness turned out to be just right for my taste and for my husband's. My husband and I found the pie to be excellent and it will definitely be a staple in our holiday table!

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: May 26, 2013
My five-year old son and I made these delicious, melt-in-your mouth, fluffy, soft pretzels today! The recipe is very easy to follow and worked very well for a novice breadmaker, like me. I followed many of the reviewers' suggestion to decrease the amount of flour, so I used 4 cups, but I still found the dough to be a bit dry. To compensate, I had to add approximately 1 tablespoon of water, which made the dough pull together quite nicely. Out of the oven, we brushed the tops with butter and sprinkled some with cinnamon sugar. My husband declared that these pretzels are much better than the mall pretzels!

White Bean Chicken Chili

Reviewed: May 6, 2013
My husband and I thought that this chili was delicious! I used 3 fresh tomatoes (peeled & diced) and 6 fresh tomatillos (lightly roasted & diced). I also used dried pinto beans and great northern beans that I soaked overnight and cooked while I prepped the veggies. I omitted the green chiles as I was afraid that it would make the dish too spicy for my five-year old. Lastly, I used ground turkey instead of chicken. I am very happy with this recipe and will be keeping it on regular rotation in my dinner repertoire as it is delicious and quite healthy.

Peach-a-Berry Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2011
I am not a pie person, but this recipe has turned me completely around! I substituted the raspberries with blackberries. I made it with the butter flaky crust recipe on this site and the end-result was excellent! My husband, our neighbor and I all loved it! I will be making this again and again!

Butter Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2011
I have never baked a pie nor made pie crusts, but this recipe gave me a lot of confidence in baking pies as it is very easy to follow. I doubled the recipe to make double crusts fruit pie (blackberry and white peaches). Surprisingly, even for a beginner, this recipe worked wonders! My husband thought that the crusts were exceptional! This is absolutely staying in my collection!
