No Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2012
This recipe did not work for me at all. I made it as written, and the sticky burgers never cooked into anything remotely solid at all.

Potato Salmon Patties

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2010
This might be better with fresh salmon, but I did not care for it with canned salmon.

Cabbage Patch Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2009
I make this with vegetarian crumbles instead of ground beef, and I love it. One of our new staples for dinner.

Chocolate Revel Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2004
I'm definitely a sweets person, but I found these to be EXTREMELY heavy and globby and rich and somehow not that tasty. As other reviewers noted, the recipe makes a lot, so you might want to use a pan larger than 9 x 13. Tasted of alcohol because of the large amount of vanilla.

Israeli Moroccan Couscous

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2004
We loved this recipe. It's good for you and has great delicate flavors. I didn't have any saffron, so I skipped that and upped the curry powder to 1/4 tsp. Other than that I made exactly as written and really enjoyed it.

Easy Mashed Potato and Roasted Vegetable Enchiladas

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2004
I roasted the vegetables the day before, so there wasn't too much to do the evening we were having these for dinner. I especially liked the vegetable/potato mixture, but the enchiladas were good as well. Next time I would halve the vegetables and potatoes, since less than half were used. The enchilada sauce you use is important to how they come out (I might try homemade next time rather than canned).

Corn Dog Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2004
I've never had a corn dog (always tended more towards the funnel cakes and sweets when it comes to fair food), but this was tasty and a nice-looking casserole. I cut the hotdogs in rounds because that seemed more appetizing to me for some reason. My 2 year-old wouldn't eat it, but he hates anything new. I didn't love this so much that I'll make it very often, but I will keep it on hand as a good kid-friendly dish.

Spinach Chickpea Curry

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2004
This came out very spicy. I wouldn't serve it to guests without reducing the curry paste. I used red curry paste. Is that what others are using? The hotness overpowered any flavor in the other ingredients. I'm hoping it will be better tomorrow once the flavors have "settled". We had this with brown rice, and it was easy to prepare and a nice-looking dish.

Red Cabbage and Apples

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2004
Good, colorful dish. I used 2 Tbsp. each of vinegar and sugar and liked the result. The only thing I would add to the directions is to watch carefully for sticking during the 25 minutes of simmering.

Topless Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2004
This didn't turn out well for me. Granted, I used frozen blueberries, so that might have had something to do with it. Also, maybe I didn't heat it long enough. I thought it was "thick", but maybe I need more of a description of how thick. I followed the instructions to drain the berries and use the juice instead of water. Also, I cut the cornstarch down to 2 Tbsp. since there were a couple of complaints of it tasting to heavily of cornstarch. The result was soupy and too sweet and still a little cornstarchy.

Rhubarb and Strawberry Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2004
This was the runniest pie I've ever made, so it was a big disappointment. I couldn't find the recipe I had used before for strawberry rhubarb pie, so I went with this one, but I won't again. Other than the runniness, the flavor was good -- sweet and tart.

Broccoli Potato Bake

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2004
I found the taste to be OK, but the consistency was kind of mushy. If I make it again, I think I'll use fresh potatoes and cut them into bigger chunks.

Sausage Egg Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2003
This is a great brunch recipe to have handy. I am curious whether the flour mixture is necessary or not. I might try skipping it next time. I have made this twice now with reduced fat sausage, reduced fat cheese, and egg substitute, and you couldn't tell at all.

Streusel Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2003
This was great! I had tried another similar recipe on the site, and this was better -- filled the entire pan better and was moister. I used 1 Tbsp. cinnamon and only 1/2 cup nuts.

Cinnamon Swirl Bundt Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2003
This was good, but made a cake that only about half filled our bundt pan. I recommend the "Streusel Coffee Cake" recipe submitted by Mary instead. It's a very similar cake, but bigger and moister.
