About this Cook
I just graduated college and now I have time to cook and need to feed myself and my food-loving boyfriend. The microwave is my favorite kitchen appliance so I have a long way to go.
My favorite things to cook
potatoes, steak, macaroni and cheese.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My cooking triumphs
leaning how to make a rue and discovering how easy it is to grill steak. Also I can make Spaghetti and sauce and only get one pot and cooking spoon dirty. It's a triumph.
My cooking tragedies
Pretty much everything. Lucking my boyfriend has little to no food standards.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople
i'm awesome at messing up recipes, but this one went okay! to the people who had a runny pie, my only ideas are, maybe it didn't simmer for long enough, or maybe you did a full top on the pie and it needs a lattice to steam off? anyways, i made a few changes, because i am lazy and like to fake it til i make it. here are the changes I made: http://icarecalifornia.blogspot.com/

Basic Flaky Pie Crust
This was awesome! I don't know much about pie crust, but I DO know how to screw recipes up, and this was still delicious! I used it to lattice this apple pie recipe: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/apple-pie-by-grandma-ople/#, I didn't have a rolling pin so i used a wine glass and some flour.

Rock's T-Bone Steaks
This is the first time I have ever grilled a steak without someone looking over my shoulder and telling me what to do every 5 seconds and it was SO GOOD! Use this recipe if you need a cooking ego boost because it is hard to mess up (even if you leave anything out) and delicious. We drank a 2005 Zin with it and it was DELICIOUS! I've paid $35 for this meal at a restaurant but tonight it was only the cost of the meat! YUM YUM YUM.
