Jam Filled Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2004
I made these at a friends house last night and they are great! I used margarine because we didn't have any butter and filled them with raspberry jam. Yum. The entire batch was gone that night. Next time I'll try them with butter.

Spicy Sausage and Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2004
This is great stuff. I added 1/2 c. extra chicken broth and didn't drain the tomatoes. I love it exactly as it is. I love spicy foods but my family doesn't, so I'll definately cut back on the cayenne next time I make it.

Tina's Shortbread Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2004
Oh yummy! I love shortbread cookies and I love chocolate I wasn't suprised that I like these as much as I do. I made them with salted butter, omitted the salt, and used milk chocolate chips. I baked them for exactly 15 minutes and they turned out beautifully. Thanks Tina!

Cornell Chicken Marinade

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2004
I just love this chicken. I marinated mine for 24 hours and I didn't find the vinegar taste overpowering at all. I baked it in the oven instead of grilling, basting with the reserved marinade. Thanks for the recipe Kathy.

Glazed Meatloaf I

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2004
A very moist and flavorful meatloaf. I added some pepper but no salt because the beef bouillon is salty enough. Pretty good but everyone at our house was unanimous in preferring my regular meatloaf recipe. Really nice for a change though. Thanks Delia!

Basic British Scones

These are awesome scones! They were all gone 20 minutes after they came out of the oven. The boys DEVOURED them! Thanks for the recipe Angela.

Orange Glorious I

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2004
The Boy and my roommate love these but I'm not as crazy about them ~ I find them a little sweet and acidy (as another reviewer also mentioned). They're a regular at my house.

Saucy Chops II

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2004
I didn't really care for this but I didn't really dislike it either. I think it just didn't suit my tastes. Thanks anyway Susan.

Baked Scallops

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2004
I was a little doubtful about the bread crumb topping because I'm not a big fan of breaded scallops but these turned out great! I coated the scallops in the crumb mixture first and then sprinkled what was left over top. Love the flavor from the bread crumb mixture. Our favorite way of preparing scallops will always be wrapping them in foil with butter, minced garlic, and fresh minced parsley and then baking them, but this is great for a change every now and then. Thanks John.

Easy Ham and Noodles

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2004
This was great ~ but, after reading a few reviews, I did make a few changes. I added a can of cream of chicken soup along with the cream of mushroom, a can of sliced mushrooms (drained), 1/2 a cup of frozen peas, and almost 1/2 c. more of cheese (we're cheese-lovers). Thanks for a great starter recipe Kathy.

I thought this recipe was kinda blah but The Boy really liked it. I'll definately make it again for him. Thanks Pam!

Coney Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2004
We really enjoyed this. I would have rated it a "4" but the boys were unanimous in their 5-star rating. I put the onions and garlic in with the ground beef and sprinkled it with chili powder while it browned. Good stuff. Thanks for posting Sandra.

Salsa Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2004
We had this for dinner tonight and it was DELICIOUS. The chicken was moist and flavorful. It took me a grand total of 5 minutes to get this dish ready for the oven. The Boy said to give this recipe 20 stars. Thanks so much Faye!

Spanish Rice II

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2004
Great rice!!! It was tasty as well as very quick to put together ~ a total bonus after an extra long shift at work. I served the rice with some sauteed chicken breasts. I think I'll take another reviewers advice and use chicken broth in place of the water next time. Thanks a bunch Dave.

Clam Chowder Canadian Military Style

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2004
Awesome clam chowder! Thick and creamy and delicious. I used whole baby clams instead of minced and served it with lightly toasted, thick slices of garlic bread (we ALWAYS have garlic bread with soup/chowder/stew). Thanks Gail!

Brown Sugar Chops

The Boys (have a few of them here tonight) really liked these pork chops but I wasn't particularly wild about them ~ I found them a little on the tough/dry side. Thanks for the recipe Jodi. :-)

Caramel Shortbread Squares

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2004
LOVE these bars!!!!!! They taste just like Twix bars ~ mmm mmm mmm. I docked the crust before baking, as suggested by previous reviews. I also took a hint from another reviewer and just sprinkled the chocolate chips over the warm caramel layer, spreading with the back of a spoon when they softened. I chilled them for about 3 hours and then cut them into squares. They look as beautiful as they taste. Thanks Julia for my new favorite treat!

Everyone enjoyed this dish. I added a little pepper and Italian seasoning to the meat/tomato mixture but otherwise followed the recipe as written. Served the pasta with garlic bread. Thanks LaDonna.

Nova Scotian Hodge Podge

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2004
YUM!!! My entire family loves this stuff. I'm from Nova Scotia and this is the big dish of the harvest ~ we use new potatoes, green beans, and yellow beans. Sometimes carrot, but, as a rule, usually the potaotes and beans. Thanks for posting this Vivian!

Nic's Easiest, Creamiest Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2004
I gave this 4 stars because The Boy loved it but I, myself, didn't care for it at all. It was very, very salty so I think the next time I make it, I'll use low-sodium soup. The recipe didn't call for any milk, but I think it would taste better with about 1/4 c. or more added with the soup. This makes a super-creamy pasta dish that would be great comfort food if it were a bit less salty.
