Family and friends are important and we get together often. Everyone loves to put their culinary skills on display and they're all talented. From sashimi caught an hour ago to a whole pig cooked in the ground overnight, menudo to chitterlings, Rabo to Yuca, we've cooked it all.
My favorite things to cook

My favorite family cooking traditions
My daughter and I put together seasoning mixtures she calls "Family Recipe"
My cooking triumphs
My mom was a working mother who cooked every dinner after work. No take out came to our house. She taught me the importance of planning ahead of time and keeping staple ingredients on hand. When we complained that there wasn't anything to eat she'd say that if you looked hard enough at the ingredients on hand there's plenty of food in this house. Then she'd proceed to pull things out of the cupboard that didn't seem to make any sense and put together an incredible meal. We could visit the world in a week with mom's cooking...Asian, Italian, Mexican, you name it she could cook it. But she wouldn't tell you how she make something. If you wanted to learn you had to help her make the meals. Since I loved to eat I helped a lot and learned early that cooking isn't complicated. Learn to properly season food by useing herbs and spices that are common to a region (like oregano for Mexican or Chinese Five spice for Asian), a couple of sauces and marinades and taking your time and you'll win.
