About this Cook
I am a private chef, caterer, instructor, comedian, planner, overall awesome entertainer in Your Private Kitchen!! Ironically, My last name really is COOK! Jenn The Cook. I am currently writing my cookbook. I had the Gastric Bypass surgery, and these are all my recipes and tricks I came up with to help me through the terrible time I had. Yes, I used to weigh over 411 pounds at my heaviest. I am now between 160-170 and right where I want to be. I have another book that does go with the cook book, and its about how this fat girl went to a skinny girl, and everything in between. How childhood abuse effected my weight as a teen into my adult years, to losing a husband to divorce when I lost the weight. Either book is going to be a good read for your nightstand or Kindle!
My favorite things to cook
I love to experiment with new things. I love ANYTHING sweet and salty. I am known for my famous whoopie pies. The salted chocolate whoopie is breath-taking. I love italian american cooking, and I am getting into baking as well as southwest spicy cooking.. always on the look out for a new combination of whoopies. Coming out with a SAVORY whoopie this spring too! Cucumber Cream Cheese with poppy seed - buffalo blue cheese - Garlic cheese bread whoopie - are just a few of my flavors coming up!!!! Stay tuned and keep your eyes out for my book!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Grandma was basically the only one in the 'family' I grew up in that actually liked me. She was the first one to spend any time with me in the kitchen. She taught me how to make a bechamel sauce first and a Roux for her famous gravy. Yes, I was in the south where they teach you to make gravy as the first thing in the kitchen. Her Peach cobbler recipe is the most famous and requested recipe that I have, and her seasoning for pork is a close second.. since I had a very abusive youth, the only good memories I have is when I was with my gma in her kitchen.
My cooking triumphs
I have won a BBQ contest 2 years in a row for my pork ribs. Country style. I have won a peach cook off as well, with .. yes you guessed it.. my cobbler recipe. and my two books will be out this year. I started my company back up recently after taking some time off to deal with some health issues. and I have 3 folders with recipes and pictures of my dishes on face book.
My cooking tragedies
My Gma used to tell me that it is not successful baking/cooking unless you burn at least one batch or one thing you are cooking. I try to keep up this tradition, and I am very successful at it. LOL!
