Beef Tips and Noodles

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2013
This was decent. I agree with others that the addition of some sour cream would give it something it lacks as is. Certainly a great jumping off point for some personal experimentation.

Kentucky Bourbon Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2010
When this first came out of the oven, it smelled really strongly of raw bourbon. I was so disappointed! But it cooled to room temperature and was then reheated later for the family Christmas dinner, and after it mellowed it turned out very nicely. Everyone really liked it, especially the DH. I used all brown sugar for a more complex flavor.

Apricot Brown Sugar Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2010
This was good. I didn't have apricot jam, so I used the rest of a jar of plum jam and a little applesauce to make 1/3 of a cup, plus dijon mustard instead of mustard powder. Tasty. The only complaint I have is the cook time. After 2 hours, I checked on the ham and it just looked underdone, so I added 20 minutes and bumped the temperature to 325. When I took it out, it was still only warm in the middle--it was only an 8 pounder, too. I'd increase the cook time by at least 30 minutes, uncovered so that it gets a nice golden brown color.

Pork Tenderloin with Dijon Marsala Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2010
Absolutely delicious. We liked our plates clean! Sweet marsala works just fine, as long as you reduce it enough and add a pinch of salt to season. The shallots help offset enough that it's still delicious. I served it with mashed potatoes, which actually ended up fighting with the sauce. It really just needs something very simple, like buttered noodles or rice.

Bronco Burger

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2010
I love this recipe. Even without the roasted peppers (sometimes I'm just too lazy) it has a great kick. Such a nice change of pace from the usual burgers with onion mix in them.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2010
My favorite recipe for zucchini bread. I've made it several times, and it can pretty much absorb whatever amount of zucchini you throw at it. Surprisingly flexible for a baked good.

Slow Cooker Lentils and Sausage

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2010
The texture of the sausage gets a bit odd after sitting in the slow cooker for so long. Having said that, the flavor is great...and I haven't had any problems with the lentils cooking through.

Pork and Pepper Stir Fry

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2010
We've already made this recipe four times at my house. It's a keeper! The only thing I do differently is add the marinade to the stir-fry so it comes out a bit saucy. It's delicious over the rice! I also sometimes add pineapple, as I'm a pineapple fiend. Reminds me of thai sweet and sour.

Mushrooms with a Soy Sauce Glaze

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2010
I liked this recipe alright as is, but felt like the garlic kind of overwhelmed the subtle flavor of the mushrooms, so I made it a second time without it. So much better! Very similar to the sauteed mushrooms you get at steakhouses.

Super Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2010
I, too, doubled the milk and flour. The result was the perfect ratio of gravy to sausage. Don't worry, it's still plenty chunky!

This was very tasty. I added a few vegetables and some pineapple to stretch it a bit; still delicious!

Thai Sweet Sticky Rice With Mango (Khao Neeo Mamuang)

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2010
Delicious! Just like in my favorite thai restaurant. I will be making this again and again. I made this exactly as the recipe described and it turned out great; no need to cook the rice with coconut milk or decrease the sugar.

These were pretty good. A little bland for me, though. I'll keep looking for something flavorful but not spicy.

Grilled Salmon I

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
I used the oven method, since its too hot to even grill right now. 425 degrees for 15 minutes inside a foil packet--delish! Squeeze a little lemon juice to brighten the flavor.
