Runzas (meat pies)

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
Unfortunately I have to disagree- I worked at runza for a few years and the texture of the bread is good, but as for "dead ringer" as another reviewer said- I don't agree, along with my family- we ate it, but it wasn't a runza as we know it from the restaurants.

Bill Clinton's Lemon Chess Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2011
Good, not stellar- I used a 9 inch deep dish and all the filling and it didn't overflow at all, the pie was nice and thick. Cooked until just the middle shook a little and took it out to cool.

Rotisserie Chicken

these turned out very well. Didn't have the energy to set up the rotesserie so I cooked them on broiler pans on the grill and it worked out well.

True Blue Custard Crunch Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2010
Pretty good, well recieved. I had never made a blueberry pie before, it was probably a little too creamy for my taste.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2009
Perhaps I did something wrong but these were less than par to me compared to my usual recipe. i don't know if I will have a 2nd attempt or not at this point as they are time consuming and my spouse says not to mess with perfection!

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2009
Yum! So simple and yet so tasty! I used a sweet thick barbeque sauce with it, it made a ton of food and I had my coworker I let taste a bite of my leftovers ask for the recipe. Will definitely make again!

New Wife Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2009
This recipe was OK, I wasn't overly impressed. I did find it a little too creamy for our taste. My daughter liked it on homemade french bread I had toasted.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2009
Very good, when I initially made it I was a bit concerned because it wasn't as red as the picture shows. I didn't find a ton of the typical sloppy joe flavor in it as is, so I added about a 1/2 can of tomato paste and it turned out very good. My husband enjoyed them a lot and took the left overs for lunch! Update: I remade them and this time instead added extra ketchup and a little BBQ sauce - even better!

Cinnamon Swirl Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2009
Very good! I think my 2 lb bread maker with the one paddle found this amount of flour a bit too much to contend with so I wouldn't recommend it for a breadmaker without 2 paddles or a 2-3 lb capacity. I think I put a bit too much butter on it because the roll separated. But it was very soft and good. Would definitely make again!

Spaghetti Carbonara II

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
My husband and I made this for valentine's day. He is a typical "where's the meat" kind of guy, but we enjoyed it a lot. We let our daughter have some for breakfast the next morning and she loved it as well - said she wants it every morning... We used pancetta and used the suggestion of another reviewer and used 1/2 wine and 1/2 cream instead of all wine. Will make again.

Mini Meatloaves

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2007
GREAT meatloaf recipe! Not normally a fan but I needed a comfort type food that evening. Used ground turkey instead of beef to lighten it up and used 1/4 cup chopped onion in it as well. It was a hit with me and the family - definitely making again!

Turkey Pot Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2005
Ok recipe, great for left-over chicken or turkey and filling/hearty with the crust, just not enough flavor for us. A little bland. Looked pretty. If I made it again I would spice it up with more oregano, salt, pepper, etc...

Cheesecake Supreme

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2003
I have tried to make many cheesecakes before, and most did not turn out with the restaurant quality I wanted. With this one I finally did it! It is so creamy, I made it with the idea of eating a slice or two and having my husband take the rest to work, however I don't know that it will make it there! I followed some previous suggestions and baked it at 250 over a water bath, however I wound up baking it for almost 3 hours before only the center jiggled. I then turned off the oven and propped the door open a little to let it cool. One thing I would do different next time is to make sure the water is boiling from the beginning when I put it in the pan because it does take a long time to heat up. But there are no cracks, no brown spots, just yumminess. I have some Junior's chocolate mousse that I may try and top it off with tonight like we had found in one of our favorite restaurants.

Cowboy Cookie Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2002
These were the best! I am not fond of nuts, so I substituted butterscotch chips instead. I have been looking for years for a recipe that would produce a cookie that wouldn't go thin after baking...this was it - just right! If you do like nuts, it might be really good as well with the cinnamon chips that Hershey makes instead of the chocolate chips, if you want to try something different. It was a hit to everyone I gave it to and I had to provide the full recipe several times!
